BORE SHROUDING TEST: 4.03" vs 3.91" Edelbrock RPM Heads Really Fit a 318? Project Mission Impossible

The 318 bore killed more cfm then I thought it would.

    Deeper gears less effective ?

I've notice something with gearing it's hard to explain so I'll mainly show examples so say we have 28" tires auto with 2.45 1st gear. So were gonna figure out what mph will 2.76, 3.91 and 5.13 will hit 3,000 rpm, 4,500 rpm and 6,000 rpm in 1st gear. 1st gear x 2.76 = 37 mph @ 3,000 rpm, 55.5...

    Good Streetabe Power

This came in my youtube feed and thought it be interesting for people looking to build so called streetable power. The test is basically what power you can make with what many would consider a streetable duration 224 @ 0.050" basically to me the mid point between RV and Street & Strip and around...

    Cab Stories

I drove Cab for 20 years, It's been 5 years since I driven do have a bunch of short stories but don't if I'm a good story teller online, If goes ok, I'll keep on adding. Like most Cab stories are about dealing with drunks and runners (people that bolt without paying). I picked these 3 or 4...

Another rant by David Vizard, lol

"Totally destroying 'out-of-date' cam event myths." is the title of one of DV's latest video's, I watch it (which like usual is hard to do) waiting for some knowledge and facts, and all I got whining and self aggrandizing, 99% of it is how's he's the cam master and done more dyno work than...

    367 vs 410 Engines Masters

410 plus 36.4 tq & 8.5 hp over the 367, They never factor gearing when they make these comparisons, not saying the 367 is better but if geared and stalled right and with optimal shift points for best quarter mile I don't think there would be much difference and could even see the 367 squeak out...

Engine Masters - The Turbo MoHo 440

What I find interesting about this build is not the turbo part of the build but the NA @ 13:00 mins. When they add TF 240 heads to a stock low cr ( low 7's cr) 440 with questionable ring seal and only a xe268h cam now the motor is making ok power obviously not super great especially for the...

    440 Long Ram Dyno Test

Kool little setup, 325 hp & 569 lbs-ft at 3,000 rpm and 407 hp at 4,500 rpm with accessories, Be interesting if they did a 500+ version, if you could keep torque per cid the same a 512 would equal 374 hp & 655 lbs-ft @ 3,000 rpm :)

Torque = Driveability ? (Engine Masters LSA shootout)

Engine Masters did a LSA shootout 106 vs 112 vs 118, they basically all made the same peak hp but the tighter the lsa the more midrange torque for a better under the curve power. Why I ask does Torque = Driveability because it gets stated all the time as fact any loss of low speed torque makes...

Salter Racing Engines rule of thumb, port 90% of Valve ?

I was watching Brian's video's and as a rule of thumb he said the port should be about 90% of the valve size. And didn't seem like he was just talking throat but bowl and above ssr and taper out from there. What's confusing me is he don't seem to want the bowl overly larger than the throat (no...

    Best street strip rpm ?

Was wondering peoples take on the best powerband to build to for a street strip car ? What's the best compromise for power and reasonable streetability? Not for any particular engine and or size unless you feel that really matters, obviously smaller engine just generally gonna make less power...

    Electric defrost/heater ?

    Here's an interesting dyno shootout 160 cfm head on a 306, 333 & 393.

The 160 cfm heads made 1.91 hp per cfm on the 306 (306hp), 2.2 hp per cfm on the 333 (352hp) & 2.41 hp per cfm on the 393 (387hp). They all had different cams, got larger as displacement went up which would also be contributing factor. Be kind of like if we did a 318 vs 360 vs 408 with stock...

Anyone knows anything about PW SBM Head?

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about these PW SBM Head? I'm guessing there just someone else's head rebranded for Canada. Cad there $1,500 bare and $2,500 complete that's like $1,100-1,800 Usd, good thing is I can just pick them up locally. Don't like they flowed it on a 4.25" bore...

What would it take to make 1.44 lbs-ft per cid ?

I'm wondering what would it take to make a pump gas 365 engine make about 526 lbs-ft @ 4,000 rpm and 514 hp @ 5,900 rpm basically a very similar power curve to the Trick Flow 408 in the dyno graph I'm using as a theoretical goal, doesn't have to use any of the same parts just probably make a...

SBM head velocities and there application?

I'm trying to come to grips with this part of head performance, people talk about velocities a lot when discussing heads, carbs, headers etc... But in an vague abstract way no definitive numbers on what the head velocity is for a given head and what those head velocities will work with (cid x...

Here you go, Piston area and force.

That's like your opinion man :) Maybe were looking from the same from you. It's not instance hp cause your not factoring in stroke or displacement depending on the eg.. This formula has nothing really to do with what were talking about lol.

Low speed torque and driveability ?

We generally speak like Low speed torque and driveability is synonyms with each other, I have myself but the more I think of it there seems to be a flaw with this line of thought. A lot of times when we see an upgrade that loses low speed torque the consensus seems driveability will suffer, but...
