    MSD yay or nay

When I was daily driving. I ran 6AL on 2 fox body Mustangs, 77 Volare, 80 LeBaron (318), 70 Dart, 75 Duster and a 84 5th ave (Mom's car). Never had an issue except the one on my 80 LeBaron. Bought it used and on really hot days (I live in Southern AZ) it would just die. Always restarted within 5...

Measure the base circle then the lobe. Subtract the lobe from the base and take the result * 1.5. Should get you real close.

    Edelbrock RPM opinions....

Yes, the heads work great. I have a 400 and just the RPM head and cam change got me close to a second in the quarter. Would a 470 benefit from a worked head. Yes! But just bolting on a set of RPM you will see improvement.

I have annoyed the car gods. Sigh!

I don't have any idea how this could of happened other then I did not have the oil pump shaft fully seated. The distributor was 180 out. I pulled the dist out rotated in 180 and she fired right up. Is it possible that the gear spun on the oil pump driveshaft? Does anyone know if the...

I have annoyed the car gods. Sigh!

Checked the compression and it is 185-195 on all 8. So It is not valves. Double checked the timing marks and the valves. On TDC the rotor is on 1 and the rockers on the #1 cyl valves are closed. Changed the carb out to my trusty 650 Demon VS. Same problems. All that is left is the ignition...

I have annoyed the car gods. Sigh!

I have an MSD 6al with a 6200 chip in it, blaster 2 coil, to a stock mopar distributor. I swapped out the MSD with a spare I keep still no love and I tried the coil. What is the issue reving to 5k? I run to 6k on the 1/4 mile pass and it is always how we check to make sure timing is not...

I have annoyed the car gods. Sigh!

Got my timing problem fixed, finally. So when checking the timing and final setting I had my brother rev the car in park to 5000 rpm and everything looked great. Timing mark solid as a rock engine sounded good. So I told him to let off the gas. As soon as he did the engine backfired and...

    Odd timing problem 360

Thanks for the responses. For the record I have and Edlebrock roller timing chain and the 3.9 chain tensioner in place. I pulled the distributor/oil pump gear out and replaced it with one I had out of a 67k 360 motor. Did not have time last night to warm it up and test. But at first glance...

    Odd timing problem 360

I have an odd problem with the timing on my 360. Rebuilt 360 .30, Stock heads with valve job, comp cams 942 springs with lunati 402 cam and lunati lifters, new harmonic balancer. My timing mark jumps around starting at about 3k and up. New timing chain, I have tried 3 different distributors...

    My 318....Is no more..... :(

My brother spun a bearing in his 360 after blowing a shift. A bearing does not screach. It is a knocking sound deep in the block. So there is chance that it is something else. Check your wheel bearings. They tend to screach when going bad. Also check your oil pressure. A spun bearing and it...

    problem installing new valve springs!

I installed comp cams 942 springs on my heads, no shims, with the Lunati 402 camshaft and lifters with stock rockers and push rods. They work well. I have a measured .042 room before coil bind and can now rev to 6k without valve float. Only issue now is dealing with lifter pump up. I...

    Edelbrock Carb Jet/Rods instructions.

The rods are very easy as are the springs. On top of the carb is 2 metal covers that have a screw holding them down. This is where the rods and springs go. Just take the screw out and remove the cover and you should see them. (There is one cover on either side of the top of the carb. Make sure...

5.9 magnum crank in LA block

I lucked into a 5.9 (360) crankshaft the has been turned 10/10 and is ready to go. Can I use the crankshaft in a 360 LA block? I have a LA 360 block ready to go. What parts can you mix and match? Done a ton of searching but no good answer. Thanks, Dan...

    problem installing new valve springs!

Thanks for the reply. I am currently running stock stamped steel rockers. Lunati lifters and stock push rods. Maybe I don't understand the coil bind formula. According to the Comp Cam FAQ you get total lift by (installed height-coil bind-.060) .060 being what is left at max lift before coils...

    problem installing new valve springs!

I am in the same boat. I have the a Lunati 60402 cam and need springs. From my math the 942s will coil bind. From all my research I think I am stuck with the 73949 Lunati springs. Everything I have found that is close has coil bind issues. 901s are too soft, 942 has coil bind problems...

Anyone using the new Summit Carb?

It is an old Ford design that Holley picked up then dropped. Summit picked it up and go the original designer to come back and redesign the spots where it had problems. There is an article out on the web about a guy putting one on his 302 and had very good luck with it. Google around, it is...

    WHich Header??

Why do they suck? I have run a set for years and they have worked well. Only thing I had to do was ding one tube when I switched to the small start. It grounded out against the header. I am about due for a new set of headers. If there is some compelling reason to not get a new set of Doug's...
