Will any name brand gear oil work, like Lucas? Does the additive have to be for "Sure-Grip". Would something like this work from Advanced Auto...

These gears I have are used, but they have new axles from Dr. Diff. Would this need to be broke in? What type oil should I buy? Also there is a bolt on the axle itself, and one on the pumpkin. Which do you use to fill from? Dumb I know.... Thanks!

I did notice that Redfish!! Now you tell me what it means! :p I took them all off by hand. One of the U bolts is bent. At least I got the shock plates. Maybe I will get new U bolts.

Man, are all those U bolts so hard to get off? I had to use a breaker bar for all 8. I don't know if it's all cuz of road grim or what? My right arm is toast!! The 8 1/4 is open, I think. 4.5" bolt pattern. With the 3.21 gears, the car moved out pretty good. Id just like to get an idea what...

Well... How important is it that I get new parts? I was just going to swap everything over, but im noticing those U bolts to be a real pain to get off. Maybe I should just get new parts and sell my whole 8 1/4 as is? I guess it would be less hassle? Do you know what I could even sell the 8 1/4...

I am also replacing my springs, and the new springs only have the rubber in one end (The larger end). The other end is just bare metal. Is there a way to remove the rubber out of the old springs and reuse them? The rubber is in good shape yet. Thanks!

Is 904 tranny, just a 904 tranny no matter what year it is? Are some years better then others? Mine happens to be from a 72 Satellite.

It's a 74 Duster, with a 904 tranny. The gasket im speaking of is the one that should be behind the silver plate that is bolted down in the picture.

You can even resize pictures in Paint, that comes with Windows.

Ive been there two years, the first year there was a handful of Mopar parts, like a $500.00 gas cap for a Charger. The second year I went there were no Mopar parts at all. YET I'm going again, and I'm not sure why? Last year a friend and I joked that since all they had was Chevy parts...

Thanks! looking at it I think I forgot that end gasket in there? Whoops! I guess I'd have to rip out that whole shaft now, huh? It's in there tight with that O Ring on the bearing!

I think I did this correct... BUT!! with the lock nut washers on the nuts only fit on 3/4 way. If I take the lock nuts off then the bolts fit all the way on. The bottom bolt seems longer. That one fits fine. What should I do? Also, the seal on the Green bearing was a tight fit. I had to take...

How do you get that e-brake cable off?? URGH!! I can't get that thing off! Also... I was going to take the 8 1/4 axle out, and I saw that there is a gold clip in the case that seems to be holding the axle in place. Is there a way to got that clip out so the axle can come out? I'm kind of...

Before I forget as well, I have new Green Bearings installed new on my axles, do they need greasing before I install? Should I lube up the third member as well? What kind of grease should I look for? Should I use gasket sealer on the third member? Thanks!

Yes, sorry it's a 8 3/4 swap. It had (has) a 8 1/4 in it now. Some people said that the driveshaft I have MAY just work... if used temporarily. The stock 4" axles actually have green bearings (someone must have changed them at some point?) So these 4.5" axles should just slide in and go, huh...

I have never attempted this before, so if someone could give me some input it would be great! I still have the stock slant 6 leaf springs on my car, so I bought some XHD Mancni Springs to swap with the rear end. Should this be a pretty simple swap over? Also... I bought new 4.5" axles...
