850 Carter Thermoquad flooding at low rpm

There's no other sound that compares thats for sure. Tuning isn't really as bad as let on either when the proper steps are followed. I've fought with edelbrocks a heck of alot more and never get it quite right.

850 Carter Thermoquad flooding at low rpm

I would start with the float levels and check the needles while your in there depending on the model most thermoquads float levels are set at 29/32 in the closed position. Some books say 31/32 some models differ but 29-31/32 is a pretty safe bet.

What cc are the heads to get 11.5 with flat tops? With that kinda compression you gotta get quench or run race fuel.

    Hypothetical 318 Builds

Yep I got one I pulled out of a ram with over 200k miles the heads are cracked but the cylinder walls not so much as a lip at the top. Wonder why the magnums wear so much better than the la's? I have a la 318 with low miles like 87k iirc and it was pretty bad! Bad enough I broke all the rings...

    Safe to bore a 383 60 over?

I have several of his books and all have alot of inaccuracies! To the OP I know its apples and oranges but my 360 went .060 over with no issues! Like others have mentioned sonic testing is the best way to know for certain!
