The tach reading is very smooth. Just incorrect.
I am reading on-line instructions for MSD tach adapter. Don't know if my car was originally voltage or current triggered.

Started as intermittent problem. Now full time.
No dome lights, tail lights, gauge lights or brake lights. The fuse is good. Replaced the switch with a new one from Advance auto parts. No change.
Any ideas appreciated.
the starter now always spins when turning the key. Just does not engage the flywheel. I took it all apart AGAIN.
Looks like only the outer 1/3 - 1/2 of the pinion gear ever contacted the ring gear.
The pinion has 10 teeth.
The ring gear "looks" ok. No teeth missing.
Could the ring gear be...
Not sure what a worn ring gear might look like. I did look and it looks ok. Tried rotating engine to expose a fresh spot and no go either.
If it is the gear...... Oh my.
Thanks everyone!!!
I took a look and indeed switching spindles left to right will solve the issue. The quick easy fix was to install shorter sway bar links. Took for a test ride. Seems fine.
Installed a new Denso starter and a fresh new battery. I got 20-30 clean starts. Now instead of being an intermittent issue the starter spins and NEVER engages the engine.
Need to bump start every time now.

My car has front disk brakes from a later model MOPAR.
The sway bar contacts the inside of the brake calipers when the wheels are turned. This occurs before wheels reach full lock.
I can solve with shorter sway bar links. Will this work???
Thanks. Someone else mentioned the flywheel gear issue.
If I crank the starter a few times it eventually engages. I replaced the original starter (with a mini) and the problem resolved for a while but then returned.
Thanks. This is an intermittent issue.
Could it be the solenoid or relay ground?
No I didn't check the flywheel but when it works it sounds and starts fine.
What is the correct ride height for the front end??
My front end is too high and caused the steering components to prematurely wear out. Also affects turning radius.
intermittent issue. when not occurring the 3 lights (one up front and two back) swtith on normally. when i have the issue the brake only causes the front light to go on and the switch no longer functions at all !!
