I'm thinking either the Dutra Duals or possibly the Gill Fat-Pipe below them... I'm leaning more toward the Fat-Pipe since it is thinner walled....
I called Lokar but of course you have to leave a message for tech support. They called me back but I was in a bad cell coverage area and call...
Cable failed again tonight coming home from a show after only being installed for 2 months... touched it and it was quite hot... I think the Teflon housing on the Lokar TC-1000U must be melting and then the housing cramps down on the cable... kinda frightening as each time it has failed it...
Hell yeah! Congrats! I had similar in high school with a 72 Swinger in the late 90s... Ended up married with small kids and broke, sold it, and have no clue at this point where the money went then... Tell him NOT to sell it when that time comes- he'll regret it just like all of us who've done...
Having said that, these particular style of door have a slider lock accessible from the outside that you can hang a padlock on (similar to a self storage unit door), so in theory you don't necessarily have to have a man door to gain access to inside to open them.
Got about 230 miles in this weekend. Went over to the Somerset KY Cruise In. Good fun! Had a great drive there and back and cruised the strip a couple times...
Having two myself, I found this pretty humorous...
On another note, even though there haven't been many car projects this year...
Got the cable and housing replaced this weekend... it was the housing had collapsed on the bottom side near the Sniper end... made it about 1/2 inch shorter this time to loosen up the bend a bit- hopefully it lasts longer this time... Its back to driving well now!
Thanks for the confirmation guys... Once I get the new parts in I'll try again...Probably make the housing 1/4 inch or so shorter which should loosen up the bends a bit. Appreciate the feedback.
Hey all - not been a lot going with the car this year as far as mods go... just been driving it here and there... had an issue tonight with a stuck throttle cable - managed to get it unstuck and limped home at idle...
Thoughts on this Routing? Been this way for probably 3-4K miles and never had...
Cool... Let me know how it works... I currently put my ear down by the Nozzle and try to hear when the fuel starts to come up the fill tube, but don't always succeed.
Pita indeed. I ended up doing the "scab weld a bunch of washers inside and press it out with the weld breaking a few times because I'm a crappy welder" method.
Could they simply etch in some letters to your kit to indicate Front/Rear/Driver/Pass/etc? Maybe easier than actually changing any real dims of the parts.
I watched a video on CrewCabDart's YouTube recently and he had some from here. Seemed happy with them. There was a discount code in the video if you go find it.
Traditional 7" Inch LED Headlight
No experience with them myself.
Good job pops... Been helping my 16 y/o son recently with bringing a motorcycle back to life that will be his first one. It's tough to not just do it for them and let them learn things.
Glad to hear of the progress being made. Sorry to hear of the job loss- hopefully that gets sorted out quickly for you- just went through it myself and was fortunately able to find one quickly and will be starting on the 13th. Good luck!
I used a thing called a "nicopress sleeve" for that wire end application. Learned about them in some past general aviation experience. Bought the special pliers and used them a whopping once! Lol
Mine's a fancy slant and automatic... Wish it were stick... maybe someday...
Not gonna lie- AC would be nice! Been kicking around the idea of this electric system- I do have enough alternator to power it...
Nice... I went with the 20:1 on my project and 99% of the time I don't mind the manual steering... That other 1% though! Would definitely want better if I were autocrossing or something, but just for cruising around, the simplicity is hard to beat.
I've now been asked a few times what the "Special" badge on my Scamp means. I've seen when buying parts they list Scamp Special vs Scamp base, but I've not been able to find online what actually differentiates the two from each other. Anyone know?
