A-Body Round #2- My '76 Scamp restore...

if you use a stock slant distributor, locked out, you could probably use the vacuum advance plate to phase the rotor. Make the plate lockable and adjust, test, then lock it down.

Makes sense... I'll have to study that stock one I got as backup to see if I can figure out how much offset between rotor and mag pickup might be achievable.

Great weekend! Drove down to Knoxville to participate in the Slant Six races. Awesome fun and a warm welcome from the group. The Scamp ran consistent 10.4X seconds in the eighth mile... I might be hooked now and want to work toward getting into the single digits...

Hey all - not been a lot going with the car this year as far as mods go... just been driving it here and there... had an issue tonight with a stuck throttle cable - managed to get it unstuck and limped home at idle...

Thoughts on this Routing? Been this way for probably 3-4K miles and never had an issue and then tonight it happened out of the blue... Ordered a new cable kit already, but am curious if there is a different way I should route it this time?

Doesn't look like routing is bad. Wonder if cable got frayed and hung up inside housing?

Yea, what you did looks really nice. Maybe one of the bends is a little too tight.

Thanks for the confirmation guys... Once I get the new parts in I'll try again...Probably make the housing 1/4 inch or so shorter which should loosen up the bends a bit. Appreciate the feedback.

I scrolled up saw you ran it at a slant 6 event. Super cool to get out there hang with some peeps.
Yep- it was great fun! Haven't been able to make any of their events this year... Not sure if they are doing Knoxville again this year or not.

Check that the kickdown cable isnt hanging up. I don’t know if it’s the camera angle but the first picture seems to show the cable is pushing the far bottom edge of the fittings and the pic with your hand show that cable kinda at an angle. Double check that the lever is free to move down there when the throttle is open.
I think mine are at a tighter angle than yours between the intake mount and the firewall. I ve had the most trouble at the pedal on mine.
Prolly unnecessary but I have a 3rd spring to the front of the motor and I think I added a spring to the kickdown lever….hmmm

And sure enough….

You gotta push the pedal if want to use this expensive Worshington gasoline! Again probably overkill.

Thanks! I'll check the kickdown well also...Thats a hefty spring you added!

Got the cable and housing replaced this weekend... it was the housing had collapsed on the bottom side near the Sniper end... made it about 1/2 inch shorter this time to loosen up the bend a bit- hopefully it lasts longer this time... Its back to driving well now!

Got about 230 miles in this weekend. Went over to the Somerset KY Cruise In. Good fun! Had a great drive there and back and cruised the strip a couple times...

Having two myself, I found this pretty humorous...

On another note, even though there haven't been many car projects this year, I did just get a new garage built for my stuff to live in. Pretty excited to get it outfitted soon!

Where is the front door? How do you get in to open the bay doors??

I've got a man door and a smaller 6' wide overhead door for the mower in the back wall, which would be the left side in this picture.

Having said that, these particular style of door have a slider lock accessible from the outside that you can hang a padlock on (similar to a self storage unit door), so in theory you don't necessarily have to have a man door to gain access to inside to open them.

Cable failed again tonight coming home from a show after only being installed for 2 months... touched it and it was quite hot... I think the Teflon housing on the Lokar TC-1000U must be melting and then the housing cramps down on the cable... kinda frightening as each time it has failed it sticks open rather than snapping back to idle...It seems that Lokar makes their High Tech model TC-1000HT which has a braided stainless housing rather than the black Teflon housing, but i can't seem to find a temp rating for either one...Will probably call them to discuss, but am curious if others have had this issue?
