For a 1968 Barracuda, do the last 6 numbers on the lower right of the fender tag need to match the last 6 numbers of the VIN?

No, I am looking to buy a 68 Barracuda and the VIN shows 340 engine. I don't have the fender tag info yet and wanted to verify it is a Formula S just by having the 340.

Some sources say yes, some say no. Does anybody know for sure?

In 1968 Barracuda, was the 340 engine only available in the Formula S model and not in the standard model?
