    1972 Dart steering box problem

Arm is moving not the whole box, my family has a few there mopars with original boxes and I am aware they feel more over assisted compared to new ones, but the wheel has a lot of play in it. I will have to check into it more and possibly try Dave's method, I can't have the car down for an...

    1972 dart 318 problem starting

Would the ballast be so hot to the touch that you could only place a finger on it for a second? The goo on the box I would assume only started oozing out within the last week.

    1972 Dart steering box problem

P/arm not loose on splines and I am aware of if you adjustment too much can cause wheel not to come back to center. Where is the adjustment on the steering column and the steering arm? I know about the one on top of the box with the nut and allen bolt. I have the manual somewhere will have to...

    1972 dart 318 problem starting

Started the car like 2 hrs ago after not starting for about 3 days, car started it park after cranking for a few seconds giving it 2 pumps and just cranking again. Noticed Ignition box on fender is leaking some goo and ballast resistor very hot to touch (not sure if that is right).

    1972 dart 318 problem starting

Only cranks in park or neutral not in any gear, cranks and starts in neutral

    1972 dart 318 problem starting

I know after a few days the carb could evaporate the fuel, but like you said it would not explain starting in neutral.

    1972 dart 318 problem starting

Have fuel in the carb, has a steady stream of gas from the accelerator pump, have checked that already. As for if it doesn't start in park I usually crank to get the fuel pump moving some gas, then pump it a few times and if it does not start I then try and put it in neutral to see if it will...

Bought the car off the original owner a neighbor of mine who never used the car. He bought the car in 73, it was his one and only car. I know the shop that worked on it and both the shop and the owner of the car said it has never been rolled around and the car has 15,000 miles (11,000 when I...

    FBO lockout plate

How’s it going guys, I recently purchased a FBO lockout for my distributor. I installed the plate along with new springs included with the kit, and timing is all in at 34*. When I take the car for a ride everything is fine, all of a sudden it pings like crazy, stuck at like 30*. I pulled it and...

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb replacement

My last question before pulling the trigger on a carb would be, would I be able to take the "brackets" off the original carb and put them on the new carb? If not it looks like we are going electric. Thanks again

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb replacement

Is there a way to make the divorced choke work or would we have to set up a electric choke? I would prefer to not run an electric choke or cut holes in the dash for the pull choke.

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb replacement

I also do know that the throttle holes are set up for a Chevy application and would require a bracket to give full throttle and allow the kickdown to work properly.

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb replacement

If the choke will not line up, is there any brackets that could make the choke work? We are trying to keep it looking as stock as possible and would rather not run an electric choke or run a choke cable into the car.

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb replacement

So a divorce choke would not just slide on to the new carb? I am trying to get something that would more or less be a plug and play carb. I am not sure, but don't these carbs also need an adapter for the Mopar linkage? We have rebuilt the carb already cleaned out everything and it helped the...

Sorry for the long delay for a response but life got in the way and we just got back to the car problem. As bugman pointed out the little holes on the barrels were clogged, thank you bugman. We also found out that the floats were uneven in height. The car is running a lot better with no more...

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb problems

I was reading that thread, our car had similar problems like not a steady idle (only sometimes when it warms up then after moving it goes away most of the time), runs great at full throttle, and the plugs appear to be clean. We adjusted the screws similar to where he was when they figured out...

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb problems

This is what the cylinder #4 spark plug looked like when we pulled it. We only checked one at random but we should check the rest of them to see how they look also.

    1968 340 AVS 4425S carb problems

We did unplug the holes on the bottom of the carb but still at times it idles when in gear close to what blower surge sounds like but not as aggressive (motor was rebuilt to stock specs).
