Would the ballast be so hot to the touch that you could only place a finger on it for a second? The goo on the box I would assume only started oozing out within the last week.

Started the car like 2 hrs ago after not starting for about 3 days, car started it park after cranking for a few seconds giving it 2 pumps and just cranking again. Noticed Ignition box on fender is leaking some goo and ballast resistor very hot to touch (not sure if that is right).

Only cranks in park or neutral not in any gear, cranks and starts in neutral

I know after a few days the carb could evaporate the fuel, but like you said it would not explain starting in neutral.

Correct me if I'm wrong, usually if a nss goes or is on its way out it will not attempt to start/crank

Is there a way to make the divorced choke work or would we have to set up a electric choke? I would prefer to not run an electric choke or cut holes in the dash for the pull choke.

I also do know that the throttle holes are set up for a Chevy application and would require a bracket to give full throttle and allow the kickdown to work properly.

If the choke will not line up, is there any brackets that could make the choke work? We are trying to keep it looking as stock as possible and would rather not run an electric choke or run a choke cable into the car.

This is what the cylinder #4 spark plug looked like when we pulled it. We only checked one at random but we should check the rest of them to see how they look also.

We did unplug the holes on the bottom of the carb but still at times it idles when in gear close to what blower surge sounds like but not as aggressive (motor was rebuilt to stock specs).
