    #'s matching 340 but .080 over? (sigh)

Going even .060" over to a 4.10" bore on a factory 340 block is pushing it imo. And even before i did that id have to be comforatable with the sonic numbers. Not saying there havent been any .125 over 340 bores, its just silly imo. And usually thats done with an siamese "R" block. my 2c...

So, I have to know........ (solid vs hyd)

hydraulic lift motor cant rev like a solid lift motor and hydraulic lift is less fynicky. not all hydraulic lift cams need adjustable rocker arms either, it just depends on how wild you get with cam selection. theres nothing wrong with hydraulic lift, their obviously great for the street and can...

Just got W9 heads, what now?

While you guys are alot smarter than me, and im certainly no ed pink or keith black, im still really young and learning alot. But here's my 2 cents anyhow. =D yea, the w8s will out flow w9s when its all said and done and the 48deg block has better geometry for sure and would be more...

Just got W9 heads, what now?

i agree. either all in or screw it and just a get a good solid set of heads that you can have fun with without having to shell over major cash.. even though your ahead of the game being that your bare W9s have guides and combustion chambers/seats already cut... and depending on how much you...

Any one interested in the oiling mods I did?

cool. these said oiling mods are a must in oval track racing, when the motor sees ~8000 for extended periods. my old man has been doing these mods for over 30 years and we've never had a motor blowup. Edit: i drug my dad over to the computer to show him this thread, he was tickled to death.

Just got W9 heads, what now?

If I were you id find someone to trade those bare W9s for a set of assembled w2s + rockerarms. There's always someone looking to take a step up the "W" ladder.. you'll find alot of guys who run W5s, 7s, 9s etc will have w2s/rockerarms laying around. and you seem up in the air about the W9s...

    more SB head questions.....

You would would want to use either the Indy LA-X heads. About 1400-1500$ and you'll be able to boltem on. (that price includes shipping fees) or the aluminum edlebrocks, cost around the same either way i suppose once you figure in the shipping of the heavier LA-X head vs the aluminum edlebrocks...

340 replacement block.. with a roller cam?

Yeah sorry i forgot to mention the extra head bolt provisions that need to be machined away to make clearance for the tie bars. It's really neat you helped design those lifters Brian.

340 replacement block.. with a roller cam?

It's when the valve lift becomes really high (combined with extended high rpm) that you see problems with the 59* tappets. I use a .640 lift solid roller and i turn the motor 7800 - 8000 rpm with no problems on the local dirt track here in fairbanks. And with a longer stroked motor you can...
