Went for a Sunday drive today, came home, tried to fire up again and the battery was dead. Threw in a good battery, car started, alternator not charging. Tested alternator full field, still no charge. Checked the brushes and one of the little springs was broken. New brush and away we go...

I’m not sure whether or not the 170 slant 6 ever came with a Stromberg WW3, but I’m attaching photos of all numbers on the carb for someone smarter than me to comment. This engine is built recently. Cam, head shaved, block shaved, etc. All I know is this two barrel carb seems to be perfect...

I sourced all of those parts myself and did all of the brackets custom. I don’t think the carb is too big, and I’m not having any of those problems. This thing hauls ***!

The intake is a later two barrel intake with EGR, but the EGR is not connected and the plate is flipped as a block off. I don’t have any of the super six linkages so I made my own custom bracket and used a Bouchillion Performance cable.

Just heard about this the other day, what a drag. Are there any reliable additives available to counteract the problems that ethanol causes in carbs?

Sounds like the blue wire is attached to a ground terminal at the alternator. Is there a plastic insulator on both alternator terminal connections?

Even if I had a million dollars I wouldn’t pay $1000 for one of these. It’s exorbitant.

Is that truly what you meant because I looked at your post and it doesn't read that way. Are we jumping on the bandwagon here? Conventional wisdom (and the FSM) says that the screws should be set at the same number of turns.

Thanks for checking in. There are two screws and they are balanced.

Here’s a pic of the carb. It was the big pivot screw that was a bit loose causing the plunger linkage to bind up.

While being called a dork by @RustyRatRod did hurt a little bit, it motivated me to look more closely at the accelerator pump linkage. It was hanging up and the pivot screw was loose. Problem solved. Thanks for the assistance everyone.

I’m not sure what to try next. I followed the FSM and tested the plunger and the check balls, everything is operational during the tests. I guess there must be some problem with the float or the linkage.

I just don’t know what more I can do with it. The plunger is flared out, the linkages are set up properly, the check balls operate properly and it gives an immediate strong shot to both barrels.

I followed all of the FSM service procedures for the accelerator pump and everything checks out.
