Went for a Sunday drive today, came home, tried to fire up again and the battery was dead.

Threw in a good battery, car started, alternator not charging.

Tested alternator full field, still no charge.

Checked the brushes and one of the little springs was broken. New brush and away we go. Simple quick and easy fix with a little bit of diagnosis, much of which was learned from this site.

Thank you FABO contributors!

I had a 75 Plymouth with the 100 amp alternator and at 120,000 miles had to replace the brushes for $1.00 around 1985. They were rugged alternators.
