Ok, is there an 8 1/4" rear (since those are better than the 7 1/4" but cheaper than the 8 3/4") that will drop in with NO modifications. I do NOT want to monkey around with driveshafts or anything else. It's for a stock daily driver and I just want to get it back on the road and be reliable...

Isn't there also an 8 1/4 and 8 3/4" that would fit the 1968 dart without any modifications. Didn't some a bodies come with the 8 3/4"? Is the 7 1/4" sure grip more durable that the standard?

Would a b body 8.25 be a direct swap? What rear ends are there that are an exact fit without modifying anything?

Interesting. Those aren't even the same design as mine. My indicator panel has white frosting on the back of the plastic and the lettering is black with a silver border around the panel. What year dart has the indicators with white lettering in your photos.?

1968 cars have a padded surrounding under the ac vents. One year only.

Installed the vents today. Only thing I need to do is paint the pad to match my interior. What is the best vinyl paint.

Thanks. I have a manual for a 68 Valiant that also covers Belvedere and Sateliite. It should be close enough. I was asking for input from people here who have removed that part before. I doubt the manual covers replacing that part since it's not a common maintenance item.

And in case anyone here cares the socket size to get the vents off is 7/16".

Yep,definetly will. I always save all the hardware. It's interesting that yours has a metal baffle inside the duct. The other ones I've seen on eBay don't have that

Hi,I found someone parting a 68 dart and wanted to know how to remove the ac vents before I go out there. My car is missing them. Want to make sure I bring the tools i need. Looks like there are simply two studs,but not sure what size nuts hold them on and how to remove the duct from.the box

If anyone is socal has one that's in good shape and ready to go cheap,I agree it would be the best/easiest solution. Hopefully the gearing would be the same. Think mine has 2.94 gears.

Thanks for the photos. I won't be able to get to it until the weekend. I know when I bought the car it appeared the pinion seal was bad because the outer housing was covered in grime. It's interesting thar the axle bearing kit costs nearly as much as the gears. Are the sure grip 7 1/4" rears...
