Turn a small drill press into a Bore/ Hone. Bolt it to the top of your engine block & do your own machining .

My machine shop won't do just one cylinder, there would be some that will, but not within my traveling distance.

Black & Milds, plastic tip, are the strongest substance abuse product here ..if you don't count my "engine building skills" to engines.

PS, the Chevy long block was "remanufactured" out of Mexico...also I noted the the front cam bearing was missaligned, oil had a hard time getting to the front main...slight gawl on that bearing but it didn't mess up the crank bearing surface....cam bearing is still good , but will need a drill...

Turn a small drill press into a Bore/ Hone. Bolt it to the top of your engine block & do your own machining .

Thinking bout it,that 1 cylinder...but the heads /bolts came out off pretty easy..it might be a waste of timeand money...I don't think anyone, who is honest will say they ever saw a hairline crack in a cylinder...maybe if they were actual machinist, a rare occurrence might turn up, but not most...

Anyone ever see a hairline crack in just one cylinder with the naked eye and magnifluxing?

Hairline crack in the cylinder? Or something else? Elaborate. Anyone ever see a hairline crack in just one cylinder that can't be seen when it's magniflux , with the naked eye?

You should have known most machine shops won't bore/hone just one cyl. They are in the business to make/ take your money. They want to door the whole block over again. All 8

Sounds all good, but my machine shop and those near by won't bore/ hone just one cylinder...you should have known.

Use a table ban saw to hack off the 340 piston crown .

Ok, after 5 months of hyatis, I believe only a piston with a tall crown/ dome would be a suitable for a hack. And that's only if the band saw has a good , adj grip, and your able to position the piston so it don't move.

    KB 340 piston crown thickness.

Now I answer my own thread....it can't be done. There isn't a piston out there that has enough meat on top to take off .1" The "Experts" out there didn't have that knowledge. Or they simply didn't care. Because I got no reply.

Use a table ban saw to hack off the 340 piston crown .

I went for it. No problem cutting off the dome on a TRW high compression piston and using it...saved a ton of money . The piston is now where it needs to be on compression with my cc.

I found a "remanufactured" long block that needs only 1 cyl to go .040" over . All the others are still in great shape. I will slader an old 4" piston with valve lapping compound and start the enlarging process spinning it inside that bad cyl. Then use the heavy duty honeing tool and magnetic...

Turn a small drill press into a Bore/ Hone. Bolt it to the top of your engine block & do your own machining .

Use a 4" old piston slader it with valve grinding compound to start then use a magnetic drill press on top with a heavy duty honeing head then finish it up with the Lisle 15000 honeing tool at .040" over to fix a bad cyl that got toasted . Skirt going to the machine shop because all the other 7...

I have all I need to do just one bad cylinder on the block I have that's already been bored .030" over. Evendently the prior engine builder didn't torque the heads enough and water got in this "remanufactured" long block , one cyl got toasted. So I ask you, do take it to the machine shop and get...

Help me find the umph in my 360

Sounds like you need a shift kit in your tranny with a correct governor for full power upshifts. If it was me, I would crawl under/ drop the tranny pan and install a kit from a reputable source...that has good step by step instructions.

9004 core is for a 850cfm for a 1975 360...that would work as a good starting point also.

Looks good, retard the cam 4 degrees. Your good heads will put you at above average 440hp@ 5800rpm and bout 450feet lbs of torque at 4500 rpm. Bet your heads will put you over the top in what your expectations are. and your cam will pull all the way thru the rpm range/= good fun driver. Good job!
