I want to hack/ table ban saw, the crown of my KB 340 pistons bout 0.10" and use a 0.060 copper gasket or shim with my standard fel pro gaskets. I need help with the math. I want a 0.030" space / squish/ quench at the TDC to promote turbulence in the combustion area. 4" crank will be used. I don't like giving my money to machine shops. Heads will be either my open chamber built 308 casting with 2.02in and 1.60ex and port work or IMM closed chamber magnum style head. Send me some numbers..is kb243 piston crown thick enough? I might be able to get a 0.080" thick shim but that's the max thickness combined with the .038" standard head gasket would be 0.138...and yes I know about intake mods will be needed to fit right. Now I answer my own thread....it can't be done. There isn't a piston out there that has enough meat on top to take off .1" The "Experts" out there didn't have that knowledge. Or they simply didn't care. Because I got no reply.
