Tune up advice, 68 Dart with later electronic ignition.

1968 Dart 318 2 barrel.. I don’t know the history of the car but it was converted to the later model Chrysler electronic ignition at some point in its life. I was gonna do plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.. would I need to buy all that stuff for the later model electronic ignition stuff? Say like...

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

I do not, I’ll give them a look.. I do have a wiring schematic from classiccarwiring.comthe laminated schematic. It’s the indicator bulb. I don’t plan to keep it an automatic in the long term or even in the next year or so. Is there any harm to be done buy not having it ? I found a couple on...

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

The title has the year and model. After looking at it again.. it could be a lamp. My shift indicator needle is missing also. The wire going to it is in pretty rough shape and has a splice in it in addition to some spots where it’s been taped up because the wire is showing

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

In other news, my brake light problem has been resolved  It was the turn signal switch. If the only purpose of that cap is for the factory radio.. I’ll leave it out and put it all back together..

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

I replaced the turn signal switch today and forgot to put what looks like a capacitor back inside the column near the switch. Following the schematic, it goes to the radio and fuse box on the opposite end. The radio in the car currently isn’t working anyhow.. will I need to put it back in ?

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

Update.. well I think I have something … some shoddy wiring.. leads me to believe it needs a new headlight switch. I wasn’t getting power going into the turn signal switch for the driver side rear.. if I’m following the schematic right, headlight switch feeds it… pulled the plug on the headlight...

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

Also, after finding a few threads on here.. I’m gonna make sure my turn signal switch is sending power out.. if that ends up being the case, the signal cam is broken anyhow so, it’ll be a prime time to fix that as well… I’ll update later today with what I find.

I think you’re correct.. explains why it was warm.. door was open and the dome light was on while I was trying to find this tail light problem

‘68 Dart, One tail light not working.

replaced bulb and still not getting a brake light or turn signal light on the driver rear..while removing a nest of speaker wires and radio wiring from an aftermath radio that was added in the past I did come across this little dude that was very warm to the touch when nothing was on...

    904 questions

68 Dart, 318 with a 904 trans..fire the car up and put it in D, you’ll take off fine and you’ll hear and feel an up shift, but not a second one. While on the highway doing 60mph, it doesn’t sound like it’s turning enough RPM to say be in second still. I don’t have a tach so I can’t verify what...

Back after a couple of decades

I decided to rock the stock 14 inch caps for now. I ordered some 215/70/14s for these wheels. Should perk it up a little more in the looks department. I wanna put some 15s but will wait a lil while

Back after a couple of decades

Brought it home finally yesterday. Got up this morning and took the cheesy chrome trim on a roll off the side. It left a ghost behind but I’m sure some compound would clean it up further .. also reattached the rear trim behind the driver rear .. and took the hitch off the back lol. In the words...

    Electric guitar...

I’ve been playing since 1994-95. My current #1.. 2023 Gibson Les Paul Custom ‘68 Reissue.. I absolutely love it. Despite that, I’m considering selling it to fund my new to me 68 Dart GT adventure. I’ve owned guitars at all price points over the years and there’s a lot of great affordable guitars...

    US Mag Indy wheel question

If I ran the Slot mag, I was gonna run a 225 width on the rear.. US Mag lists the backspace as 3.80 and Summit shows 3.75 but 4.0 or more would have been better. I’m sure they’ll fit but it’ll limit my tire choices Looks like the back order is to July on the Boyds. That would be a sweet wheel...

I go tomorrow to check it out in person and make the deal. Due to logistics, I’ll have to park it at my brothers place for a few days till the weekend comes. US Mag Indy wheel question

Since the 67-76 rear wheel opening doesn’t have the radius that a Demon/Duster has.. I know it’s a limiting factor.. just didn’t wanna find out the hard way lol

Back after a couple of decades

It may make some cringe but I do not and will not care about originality with this car.. if it was a factory big block GTS then I would go OE but.. 318/904 with a rearend made of glass.. it’ll be how I want it. Paint isn’t perfect but plenty good to rock at the local cruse nites..
