    She's back!

Geof, nice ride! There's just something about those '66 cudas, they're really one of a kind. Love the cheeze grader front end. Do you ever get out to detroit area on weekends to cruise around? Once it gets warmer people start cruising woodward every fri/sat night and theres a shell gas...

What I did for my LEDS

I thought I read somewhere that the LED tail lights can only be seen well if viewed from straight on, so if you look at them from an angle (like the next lane) you can't see nearly as well as standard bulbs because the LED's are directional.

    conversion-single master cylinder to dual

+1 for dan . . . I just did this over the weekend. Got a '66 cuda with 4 wheel manual drums, went with the 1.03 bore alum duel res MC from mancini's. I took out the old distribution block and then used a coupler to run the rear line right to the MC. For the front brakes I had an extra T coupler...

Here's a photo from last year under the hood. Ill go take some new photos this weekend with the upgraded parts.

    She's back!

Yeah I'd check your timing with the vac advance disconnected, give it a little more initial timing. Also check your idle mixture screws and make sure your choke is opening all the way when its warmed up. Timing and idle mixture should fix it . . . mine is a complete dog off idle when the...

    66 Dart master cylinder replacement

Well I was starting to question my sanity during this brake job. . . The Reman Napa 68 dart MC i was using was bad. it was weird, i bench bled it and bled the brakes so many times went through 3 or 4 BIG bottles of fluid. It kept sucking air into the MC, no leaks but it must have been a bad MC...

    She's back!

Took my '66 Barracuda to work today, running like a champ! Everything finally came together this weekend. . . had a heck of a time converting her from single to duel res master cylinder. Those old fittings were a PITA to get off the original distribution block but its all happy now. Got a master...

+1 on the "floor jack" method . . . worked like a charm!

    66 Dart master cylinder replacement

I picked up a set of flare wrenches today so hopefully that'll help from rounding off these dam things. Im just going to run the rear line up to the MC and use a T for the front lines, that year one MC is goofy, hopefully I can return it. Im running all 4 manual drum brakes so dont have to...

    66 Dart master cylinder replacement

http://www.earlycuda.org/tech/dualmaster.htm I ran across this site last night. I think my new plan of attack is going to be to run a coupler to extend the rear brake line directly to the MC and use a rear axle brake line "T" from the MC to the L and R front brakes. Upon further review it...

    66 Dart master cylinder replacement

Started ripping into the brakes on my '66 Cuda today. Ran into a couple of hitches . . . first of all the brake peddle push rod was stuck in the old master cylinder so had to unbolt it from the brake peddle to get the old MC out. Put the dang thing in the vice and after some good hammer blows it...

    I need more timing adjustment

Using the mopar electronic dizzy with the orange box I went from around 15mpg with my '66 cuda (360 4bbl with 2.91 gears) now I get easily 18-19mpg. Don't know much about the pertronix kit, it seemed a little complicated. I wanted to be able to get parts easily if it ever broke down so went with...

    I need more timing adjustment

Sounds like your a gear tooth off when you installed the new dizzy. When you turn the dizzy to advance the timing does it bang into something so you can't go any further? I have zero experience with slant 6's but thats my 2 cents. Good luck!

    66 Dart master cylinder replacement

I'm doing the exact same thing this week on my '66 Barracuda. Got a Napa NMC P1874M master cylinder and the distribution block from Year One. Its my understanding that for manual drum brakes you don't need a prop valve, you only need the distribution block for a duel reservoir master cylinder...

Carb heat shield . . . anyone try this?

The engine is a '74 360 block/heads with a '66 273 commando 4bbl cast intake and 4bbl carter AFB 4120S. It has the divorced choke (keeping as original as possible) so I can't plug the exhaust cross over. I'm pretty darn sure I'm having fuel boil/perk vapor lock issues. The car runs fine...

Carb heat shield . . . anyone try this?

Its about time I do something about this annoying vapor lock issue thats been cursing my '66 Barracuda. Its a total pain to start after sitting overnight (bowls must be boiling dry) and if it sits for 5 - 10 min, hard start again. If sits for a little longer she starts up fine. If I pour a shot...

'66 Barracuda having some charging issues

Went to Mancini's today and picked up a new alternator. Solved my problems :) They said they will be getting in the early style voltage regulators soon, just like the old black box solid state ones but with electronic guts. Car is running at 12.5v at idle across the battery and about 13v with...

'66 Barracuda having some charging issues

I tried doing the full field test while measuring voltage across the battery and there was no increase, I also jumped the voltage regulator wires together with no change. It looks like my alternator is bad. It is a single field with the post style alternator and the voltage regulator is the...

'66 Barracuda having some charging issues

Hey guys, I went on a 2 hr trip up north for a car show last weekend and had zero problems, even in the 95* heat she ran nice n' cool. Got back home fine too. About 15 min from getting home I noticed that my Amp meter was in discharge while driving. Nothing was wrong that I could tell so I...

Got it from Mancini's . . . www.manciniracing.com or something like that. They're store/warehouse is 10 minutes from my place so I just drove there ;)

    my fish is wet :(

haha . . . great minds think alike . . . did the RTV make it hard to get the hoses off again? I guess you could just razor blade them off in the future anyways, hmm . . .maybe I'll try that idea after all, thanks!

    my fish is wet :(

Thats a thought, makes sense. . . . does anyone have some restoration/reproduction heater hoses or better yet, original ones? could compare the outside diameter with the new hoses. I was half tempted to stick with the old school clamps and just throw a skim of RTV on the heater core outlet...

    my fish is wet :(

I got them on with vice grips but while buying the new T-stat housing at napa I picked up the correct pliers for the clamps. They have a groove for the tabs and lock to keep the clamps open while your installing them. I tried moving the clamps with the pliers closer towards the "buldge" flared...

    my fish is wet :(

Spent yesterday afternoon tuning up my '66 barracuda and dressing up under the hood. Got the restoration battery with green caps from Mancini's, sure looks better than the old nasty dirty one I had in there. Since I was having cooling issues I went with a new high flow 160* T-stat. Happy to say...

1966 Barracuda radiator shroud / cooling questions

I got the shroud in the mail and its really nice, going to clean it up a bit and throw some satin black epoxy paint on it. Yesterday I flushed the whole cooling system, did new heater core hoses and a high flow 180 T-stat. She's running much cooler now, I think the T-stat did the trick. The new...

1966 Barracuda radiator shroud / cooling questions

haha! Decided to putz around on e-bay for a couple minutes . . . scored a really nice original 1966 Barracuda 22" metal shroud, with repop mounting brackets for $50 buy it now! Guy had a few days left on the auction with zero bids, at $35 but I didn't want to chance loosing it over $15. Also...
