    Intermittent shift problems

Sounds like a sticking governor. With that being said theres usually a reason for it and thats metal contamination. Removing the pan should confirm if thats your problem. Also remove the filter and look on top of it for small bits of rubber as well.If either or both are evident an overhaul may...

727 rear band pin fell out!

There is no pressure on that pin ... Use the tail housing bolt nearest to the pin with a piece of flat metal bar with a 3/8 hole for the bolt and bent it to cover the pin bore. Use a small amount of silicone on the pin Oring to aid in the sealing.

    727 Help Please. pics!

That is the rear band pin that anchors the the band strut assembly. There is 2 Orings on that and over time become hard and cause seepage. They can be replaced in the car but are quite the chore to get back together. I have seen guys take a chisel and break that aluminum retaining tab off the...

    727 filler tube leaking

Just your typical RTV Silicone will do. Except blue or orange lol... looks like crap IMHO :)

    727 filler tube leaking

Impossible... There is only one groove for one oring. add a small amount of silicone to the new oring and look closely for cracks around the oring groove they do tend to crack there from harsh removal.

    Transgo TF2 Installation A904

Nice job following the instructions. Just make sure the band adjustments are correct or you will have ( Overlap / tie-up ) it feels like a hard shift but its actually two ranges fighting each other. IE: One comes on before the other gear releases. Clutch timing is everything :)

    fresh 727 problem

Yes usually an assembly issue... don't feel bad many before you have done it. Next time around cut the heads off a couple 5/16 bolts and make a couple studs as guides. Lube the pump oring, sealing rings and case up and the pump will slide easier. Also if you have the band struts together back...

Shift kits.. do you really need one????

Well... Both kits require drilling and installing updated springs so that part is essentially the same. The Superior kit supplies you with both Gov valves where as the Transgo you need to grind you own valve. There is just is more work with the Transgo to get the same results as you would with...

    fresh 727 problem

Correct...you can air check those drums right off the pump once you pull it. Bore fit those rings in the drum make sure they fit snug in the Dir/ front drum also check the drum for ring wear. Make sure the pump to stator bolts weren't left finger tight...and change those bushings. Make sure you...

Shift kits.. do you really need one????

Used Transgo for years but found the fine tuning was becoming more and more frequent. The overlap or tie-up, even with correct clearances at times took hours to correct. Started using Superior Shift kits and was totally impressed. They seem to have the done their homework... BTW Superior is AKA...

    Torque Converter Snout Cracked

Bravo.... Smart decision. BTW did you leave the Torsion bars attached to the body ? And how long did it take you to pull it out that way leaving the K on the engine ?

    Torque Converter Snout Cracked

Yes he can .....But still new bushing and seal. Any converter shop will tell you to. In fact most wont warranty their work unless you do your part and give the hub a new surface to ride on. Bushings are made of a brass or babbit material for a reason. And that reason is to allow for some of...

    727 leaks if not driven

Really no need as long as all the seals in your trans are in good shape. It usually occurs with older/high milage transmissions as the seals-gaskets and Orings become hard, dried out and shrunk. How to prevent it....... Have the leaking areas PROPERLY repaired and you should be able to store your...

    727 leaks if not driven

The converter drain back is quite common when sitting for any length of time... One if the most over looked leaks on a 727 is the rear band pin Oring. This Oring is at the rear of the transmission ABOVE the trans pan rail consequently is seeps down to the pan gasket area and it usually gets...

    a904 Problems

This might sound stupid but do a "wiggle test "... As long as it will idle in park reach around the distributor area and just start wiggling wires sometime just movement from an engagement will stall out a engine if theres a broken / frayed wire barely hanging on. Same goes for any wiring near...

    Brass or Dacron transmission filter

In the old B&Ms yea but Transgo your lucky to get tape on the box... Filters with shift kits are now history. Nothings free nowadays. If its just a daily driver use a Dacron they work just fine. But ask for a brand name like Filtran the offshore can be a little too tightly woven and starve the...

    Rebuilt 904, no 3rd gear???

Seen this scenario before..... If you really don't want to be doing this again then do it right this time. 1 Strip and clean it again buy a paper and rubber kit their cheap. 2 Replace the filter use a Dacron one. Change to a screen later if you like. 3 (Assuming its not a lockup TC) Flush it...

    So I was looking for an A500 / 42rh

Confirmed... you have a 518 there. The jut out area where the filler tube, Only 518s and 727s have that. 500s and 904s have a strait case and pan at that location.

cant remove oil pump off 904
