I have a 340 crankshaft and would like to know if it is a cast or steel crank. I looked for a casting number no luck, the only numbers that i could locate were a 50 in a triangle with a capitail R above. not sure if this means anything to someonethanks in advance for any help

considering the purchase of a high flo oil pump for my 340 or should I be satisfied with the stock oil pump. will it cause a low oil level in the sump. the high flo require a larger capacity oil pan, also does any no of a modification on oil flo to the number 6 cylinder thanks
These stampings are located at the distributor end of the block. the R8 is passenger side and the L5 driver side casted on the block. 1/8 parting line is on the last three counter weights with a second one on the second last one about 3 " away. also the last counter weight the letter R and below...
bought a 340 block and crank 12/10/68 ,clocks indicates D, hand punch 9B331245, also located at front eng, L5 and R8. What I do no Dec/10/1968. not sure about the crank V 50 it has a 1/8 groove along it, any info would be greatly appreciated thanks
