    Fuel pump issue

Ok. I have 3/8" line coming from my gas tank and the stock pump has a 1/4" inlet and outlet. And a 3/8" line going to the carb. That's were I'm getting into adapting line sizes. I bought a 3/8" braided line kit to clean things up but the threads on the outlet of a mopar pump is not a standard...

    Fuel pump issue

Ok. My tube bending stacks up to the best of them. But I need to know where is the best place to mount the pump below the gas tank. I have a Holley red and in it's directions they want it mounted below the lowest part of the tank. Or would another pump work better.

    Fuel pump issue

I would like to get away from the mechanical fuel pump on my small block. I have to use too many adaptors to reduce from a 3/8 fuel line to ¼ in and back out of the pump and then up to the carb. A lot of hoses and clamps, looks sloppy. I looked at an electric pump but it suggests that the...

    Correct Oil Filter for SB

I got looking into some of the suggestions and I also had the plug missing inside the distributor bore. I’ve been messing with this for months, thanks for the help.

    Correct Oil Filter for SB

This is great. I’m having the same low oil pressure problem with my 318. I had lifter noise on the right bank and presumed it was caused by low psi. I installed a HV pump, but that made no difference. I’ve pulled my motor out and found that the caps in the front lifter gallies are missing...

    Wrist pin Noise?

Well, I was going to start on the bodywork this summer, so the car won’t get driven too much anyway. I’ll use that time to get a second and third opinion. And if needed find a new block and pull the motor over the winter. Thank for the info. You’ve all been a great help.

    Wrist pin Noise?

This engine is out of a 74 Barracuda. I bought the car as a donor car for a 66 Barracuda I’m working on. The guy I bought it from said the engine had been rebuilt. I tore it down to the short block, I could still see the berry ball marks in the cylinders so I put it back together. With the...

    Wrist pin Noise?

Sanguine. OK. I removed all the plug wires, one at a time, and the noise did not leave. Is there a test for piston slap? Or is it a prosess of elimanation?

    Wrist pin Noise?

But that noise would not go away when the engine reached temp would it? Was the noise always there?

    Wrist pin Noise?

Does this noise also go away when the plug wire is removed? I almost don't what to know, but what is the cure for piston slap. This would make sense, this 318 was bored over .40. The engine had around 2000 miles on it when I got it. And I got it in and running last summer and I have been...

    Wrist pin Noise?

What do you mean by "piston slap"? I've heard the term but never knew what it ment. The noise is much less when the engine is at temp.

    Wrist pin Noise?

I have a 318 and have had a noise, which sounds like valve train. But I have eliminated any possibility that the noise is valve train related. So I believe my next step would by checking piston wrist pins. But what is the diagnostic procedure of checking wrist pins with the engine assembled...

    Valve train noise

No. Standard, stock, same as. I just had a thought, lets see if anyone has tried this. How about putting an adjustable rocker arm on just that valve? The "cut to fit" push rods seems to me to be a hit and miss proposition. I'll start looking into it. May be a wild thought, but it's a thought.

    Valve train noise

Well, it's the stock rocker arm assy. I may need to do more research on lifter preload. I just can't fully explain the noise going away after the engine come to temp.

    Valve train noise

If there is clearance will an adustable pushrod fix the problem?

    Valve train noise

My 318 has a valve train noise. The engine was just rebuilt. Installed new Purple shaft cam. #5 intake valve train makes noise. I replaced lifter, pushrod and rocker arm. Checked oil port in lifter bore to see how much oil, if any, it was getting to lifter, checked ok. After engine is up to...

rocker arm and push rod question

Look at the bolt spacers on the rocker arm shaft. There are two width of spacers. The narrow spacers should be on the two outside and center bolts. The wide ones on two on either side of center. If the wide ones are out of place it will push the rocker arms over and out of position. Look to see...
