    Overheating issues with remanufactured 360

My money is on the t-stat installed upside down. No other reason for an engine to over heat in 2-3 mins. at idle. If that don't work, call Summit back and order a 528 hemi, that'll fix your overheating problem...hehehe

So close to running, but then this happened!

There is a stud extractor set that looks like a black socket set. They are splined and you hammer them over the stud, the splines dig in and the hammering helps shock the threads loose. They work very well, but I can't remember who makes them.

No start, bad compression, what now?!

No more cranking untill you verify cam and ignition timing, and get some sort of exhaust on that thing. Continued cranking with little to no oil pressure is not a good thing.

Fixing vs. Buying a New Engine / 273

1600 for ready to go 340 is a bargain. Ask for reciepts for parts and machine work, comp. test, time slips, etc. Check the prices on crate motors and you'll see 1600 is nothing. Is that comlete from carb to oil pan? How about other parts like headers, starter, alt., brackets? The more the better.
