Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

I don't love the Bullitt wheels, but those are nice. What's the width and what tire size do you run? @Mojoe9955

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

PST's site says the bars have "20 degree" clocking and a 230lb rate. They're also powdercoated.

First: click the "+QUOTE" button at the bottom right. When you have selected all the quotes, click the "Insert Quotes" button under the text box. The quotes will pop up, click the "Insert" button on the bottom right and they go in the text box. I saw PST 1.03" (230lb) bars...anything wrong with...

    That is an...interesting euphemism.

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

Glad this got bumped, because I need it. The guy that built my Duster was a pretty good wrench...but a Chevy guy and totally unfamiliar with Mopars. As such, he made some...interesting...part selections. I'm 99% sure I have a JS front swaybar, with probably-original .85" bars on the...

Jegs might sell a regular Lares replacement box.

    Disk brake parts swap

They physically fit, but can screw up the geometry. The RIGHT knuckles/spindles are 73-4 E body and 73-6 disc brake A body.

    Mopar action green brick formula

    Ehrenberg still has it, AFAIK.

    Mopar action green brick formula

I don't think it ever had a supercharger.

    Mopar action green brick formula

Yes, I'm bumping this old thread. Reading some of the early Green Brick stuff, it has an interesting story... E-berg bought it stock, a NJ Bell car. (I think the green is the original NJ Bell color.) It was then a street racer, with basically Dart/Duster mechanicals (340/833/4-piston...

    Mopar action green brick formula

Initially, there was no spray-they did use two right springs (extra half leaf, IIRC). Trans was an 833 in an ancient (70's) Direct Connection aluminum case, with slant six (3.09) gears. Had a Mickey Thompson magnesium centersection for a while...ran the last two One Laps with a piece from a...

Sub-frame connectors... Please build them correctly!

Seems that most people saying that have hardtops...and I'm not surprised. That is a BIG door opening with no bracing except the rocker & roof!

    Hmm...so I don't love Monroe shocks...

I put Monroes on my Dakota...bad idea. They're pretty much shot. They have <3500 miles on them. Thinking Edelbrock IAS now.

    Steering column

I THINK (?) that Firm Feel or Steer-N-Gear has an adapter to use a PS column. 80's vans with manual steering DID use said adapter (FF/SNG repop it...?), but good luck finding one. :(

    Junkyard Power steering options

Doesn't the column need to be modified for this? Personally...I would rather not have power steering.

Are the rear leaf springs on a 76 Feather Duster the same on both sides?

    Mustang II suspension

Spot on. Again: look what Ehrenberg did with stock suspension!

    Mustang II suspension

I have never seen a beat-up grade crossing, a 4" high frost heave, or a broken expansion joint on a track!

    Mustang II suspension

They make me think more and more that any and all modified cars should have to be signed off on by a structural engineer before being permitted on public roads. There are some SCARY suspensions out there. (See: entire front supported on shock mounts!)
  23. Jarlaxle

    Mustang II suspension

Yes, I have...and after looking one over very closely, I would absolutely NOT drive a car on the street with one!
  24. Jarlaxle

    Mustang II suspension

I saw one that had the entire weight of the front end carried by the shock mounts! Ye gods. And honestly...I am not impressed with the Alter-K-Tion for street use.

    Mustang II suspension

Keep the stock front end unless it's a trailered race car. Way too many of the aftermarket stuff is just SCARY.

Asking a couple questions-will my A body corner?

There's also a Kumho Ecsta AST, H-rated, $71 each. Also the Falken ZE-912, V-rated $76 each. Again: that's what the Green Brick runs, and the results there speak for themselves! Also note: OE tires on an A-body were only 25" or so!

Asking a couple questions-will my A body corner?

Nobody told Pirelli that! The P-zero is available in 225/50R15. (That's the size the Green Brick runs.)

    Ditch power steering?

Not that big a deal, especially on a 2800lb Duster!
  29. Jarlaxle

    Ditch power steering?

I do not see the big deal, especially on a little A-body. Having driven a highway coach, a C-body, and an L7000 with manual steering, I truly don't see the point. I'd rather have manual steering on...well, pretty much anything.

    Ditch power steering?

My friend's Feather Duster is exactly the same way: manual brakes, manual steering, and A/C. I just wish it had the fast-ratio steering!
