I saw PST 1.03" (230lb) bars...anything wrong with...
Glad this got bumped, because I need it. The guy that built my Duster was a pretty good wrench...but a Chevy guy and totally unfamiliar with Mopars. As such, he made some...interesting...part selections. I'm 99% sure I have a JS front swaybar, with probably-original .85" bars on the...
Yes, I'm bumping this old thread.
Reading some of the early Green Brick stuff, it has an interesting story...
E-berg bought it stock, a NJ Bell car. (I think the green is the original NJ Bell color.)
It was then a street racer, with basically Dart/Duster mechanicals (340/833/4-piston...
Initially, there was no spray-they did use two right springs (extra half leaf, IIRC). Trans was an 833 in an ancient (70's) Direct Connection aluminum case, with slant six (3.09) gears.
Had a Mickey Thompson magnesium centersection for a while...ran the last two One Laps with a piece from a...
I THINK (?) that Firm Feel or Steer-N-Gear has an adapter to use a PS column.
80's vans with manual steering DID use said adapter (FF/SNG repop it...?), but good luck finding one. :(
They make me think more and more that any and all modified cars should have to be signed off on by a structural engineer before being permitted on public roads. There are some SCARY suspensions out there. (See: entire front supported on shock mounts!)
I saw one that had the entire weight of the front end carried by the shock mounts! Ye gods.
And honestly...I am not impressed with the Alter-K-Tion for street use.
There's also a Kumho Ecsta AST, H-rated, $71 each. Also the Falken ZE-912, V-rated $76 each.
Again: that's what the Green Brick runs, and the results there speak for themselves!
Also note: OE tires on an A-body were only 25" or so!
I do not see the big deal, especially on a little A-body. Having driven a highway coach, a C-body, and an L7000 with manual steering, I truly don't see the point. I'd rather have manual steering on...well, pretty much anything.
