Running rich....To big of a carb or?

Your floats could be to high like a few of the guys said. I would make sure the choke is opening up all the way when hot. I ran a electric choke carb before and it would make the plugs very dark. I just went to summits page and looked at the carb you have. If it came with that set up it...

Running rich....To big of a carb or?

A blown power valve works the same way a power valve works when it opens at the lower then rated vacuum on the valve itself. Extra fuel is introduced to the carbs main circuit increasing the fuel the engine sees at idle. When properly working it opens when it should -- under a load --ie low...

Running rich....To big of a carb or?

I just noticed you have a power valve in the back of the carb. Thats ok but in install a 71 jet in the rear also If you remove the power valve and put a block off power valve (blank with no hole) then you would run a 78 to 79 jet. Holley carbs are very easy to work on once you understand how...

Running rich....To big of a carb or?

Your problems are what i said they are. The power valve will open at idle if it go's below 9.5 on a vacuum gauge. Your 77 primary jets will turn into about a 85 jets under acceleration when the power valve fully opens. Just change your jets to a 71 and get a 3.5 power valve, Look up holley...

Running rich....To big of a carb or?

The power valve adds more gas to the metering plate it's installed in -- front or back metering plate. I operates on the engine vacuum signal..... This is why holley suggest to check your vacuum reading at idle and also in drive, with someone holding their foot on the brake pedal. What ever the...

Running rich....To big of a carb or?

Way to much jet in the primary. 71's in the front and a 3.5 power valve will clean it up. I run a 4.5 or 3.5 in everything because i like to be able to control my accelerator pump shot with out the power valve being in the way with a rich condition. The pump shot is first then the power valves...

I bought a 3/8 sending unit. Wrong Unit?

I just installed the 3/8 sending unit on my 67 cuda with 5/16 line. Just use a new piece of 5/16 fuel hose and it go's on very easy. If you plan on going to a v8 down the road and want to install a 3/8 fuel line ,you will be all set to go.

    Which carb should I get?

I just installed a proform 750 race carb on my 67 318 in my cuda and it runs great. I replaced my 750 holley double pumper with it and that to ran really good. If a 750 seems a little big to you then use the 650 proform race carb. Mancini has them for...

    Proform 750 going on 318...

Installed the carb and it runs great. I set the idle screws one full turn out and started it up. I could hardly see any change in rpm from park to drive. I still have to adjust the screws for max vacuum but i am betting it's perfect right where it is. I did not drive it yet because i was also...

    Proform 750 going on 318...

I received my 750 proform carb and will be installing it on my 318. I just might have to do a good burn out and drive by. I also bought a proform fan(16 inch) I am a little sad to see my 750 double pumper leave because it's been with me for so long and won all my races with me. It went...

    Another Carb Recommendation

Performance is performance to me. On the street or track. I always say a 750 double pumper because it's the cheapest performance carb but there is a carb that is smaller that will work great on any small cube engine. I would get a 650 hp holley double pumper.

Ethanol blended gas (good or bad?)

My freind runs strait ethanol in his 69 road runner and was having a problem with his fuel pumps going south. He had marvil mystery oil checked-- by testing--at some company for the specific gravity of the product. It turns out that it has everything in it to help with lubing the pump and also...

    FAT carb

Use 74 jets in the front and 84 in the rear to start. This is a good place to start jetting a big block. The four hole spacer i suggested will make the car idle better in drive and run smoother from a dead stop under all driving conditions.8)

    FAT carb

Most carbs come with 6.5 power valve.(TAKE IT OUT) When you run a engine with that big of a camshaft, you have to use a 2.5 power valve. You said you have 5 inches of vacuum at idle,SO THERE'S YOUR PROBLEM. YOUR DUMPING ALL THE FUEL YOU WOULD USE ,IF IT WERE AT FULL THROTTLE, IN THE ENGINE...

    Annular vs dogleg booster....

I just ordered a holley 750 hp and they come with down leg boosters. I was also interested in the annular boosters and might try them in the future. They only cost $89 bucks or so. I notice that they are used on larger cfm rated carbs ,and i would think this is because your dealing with a larger...

    Holley combinations

Babyblue66, When talking carbs there is no standard that would work for everyone. Thats what this question is all about.WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.
