I'm changing the steering wheel in my Scamp and I'm missing the nut that holds the wheel to the steering column. Can anybody tell me what size nut and what thread pitch I need? Thanks in advance...

Yes, I believe it's just like the Dart. So remove the back panel and bumper as one piece, and then I can access the bumper bolts? Sounds like a plan! Thanks.

I lent out my FSM, so can't look this up...how do you remove the rear bumper on a '71 Scamp? I'm trying to take the bumper off to get it rechromed, but can't access the 4 bumper bolts (2 on each side) at the ends to get a wrench on them.

Ha! There IS no connection at this point. Still got to work that out...A length of rubber and hose clamps would work, but not the most attractive solution. I'll post pics when I figure that out.

Consensus seems to be to leave it natural. I have to agree that it does seem too pretty to cover up. As GTXperience said, I can always change it later. Ok, au natural it is! Thanks guys! :cheers:

Just discovered that ANOTHER piece the shop that dismantled my '71 Scamp didn't return when they went out of business was the gas pedal. Are all A-body gas pedals the same? I'm not going for accuracy, so any pedal that works would be fine. Just want to be sure not to spend money on something...

Is the tranny crossmember the same for a 904 and 727?

I agree with Burntorange. Those puny bolts as shown in the pics aren't going to hold much. To be truly effective, they need to tie in to the shock towers.

Cracks are easy to fix. There is a little flex in the grill, so I just kind of opened the crack and spread in a layer of epoxy and let the crack close on itself. I used plenty, knowing I could sand it smooth after. You can see the epoxy on the back side of the grill, since I didn't sand that...

Here are a couple before and after photos of my grill. I used a Dremel tool with a variety of sanding and grinding bits to shape replacement pieces, and epoxy to fix them. I then taped and sprayed with silver argent rattle can paint from Totally Auto. I'm still working on polishing the trim...

Man, that repair would be a piece of cake. My grill looked like someone kicked it in. I bought some scrap pieces at a swap meet and combined them to construct a new grill. I'll look for my before and after pics...
