    A855 - 5 Speed

Some people are just not comfortable hacking structural parts.

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

Yes, it does-the car only being 3300lbs also helps. Next step...get it running properly for the drive to Carlisle.

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

    Not OD, regular 2.66 transmission.

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

    Update: did it. Love it!

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

Unfortunately, my wallet says no TKX at the moment. The .72 and 3.55 (2.56 final drive) would probably work very well.

Thinking about a Gear Vendors OD. Can Anybody Give Some Guidance?

How much surgery and expense is that to install...especially compared to an A518, or even a Silver Sport "A41" swap? Nice. I hope you get royalties.

Looks like there are a couple parts missing...:steering:

Thinking about a Gear Vendors OD. Can Anybody Give Some Guidance?

Either add vacuum advance (I have seen 24 degree cans, and I think there are ADJUSTABLE cans available) and adjust it to come in earlier, or reduce centrifugal advance and add initial timing (1 for 1) to compensate. For a cruiser, considering the significant costs of the GV and the work...

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

That's a LITTLE more cam than mine (about 6 degrees on both), but very close. What's it going in?

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

That sounds like what I'm looking for. I'd love a TKO or T56, but my wallet says no.

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

Per Hughes, the cam I have is fine with a stock converter and "stock to 3.55" gears. That's pretty much what I want. With a 360, I'll have more low-end than a 318. I am trying to achieve lower highway cruising RPMs for a daily driver. No, but I know people who can. I can't swap a trans...

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

Loudly. :( Engine seems perfectly happy to do it, but it's loud, it burns a lot of gas, and it cannot be good for engine longevity. About what? I'm not following you. 70MPH actual (on GPS-speedo is considerably off) is 3000RPM. Usual highway speeds in this area are 70-75MPH. I have driven...

    Tall gears and 4-speeds

Car is a 73 Duster, mild Magnum 360, 833 trans with V8 gears, I think 26" tires. (225/60R15) Currently has 8.25" with 3.55 gears, and...yeah, that's getting old. Does anyone have actual EXPERIENCE with a 4 speed and 2.76 axle gears in a ~3300lb car? How does it drive?

    A833 OD Decode - Help!

That would be quite problematic, as it is in a vehicle and 1500 miles away.

    A833 OD Decode - Help!

But is the case on a truck OD still aluminum?

    Pilot bushing for scat crankshaft

Any dealer, you want PN 4338876 (bushing) or 53009180 (roller bearing). They press into the TC pilot hole. If they do not fit, something is wrong with the crank.

    A855 - 5 Speed

I do know...but you don't care...so I'm not going to bother. But by all means: put a transmission rated for 300 lb-ft behind a 440. Torque capacity doesn't matter, so you should be fine, right?

    Later T10s were used I 4000lb cars with 500lb-ft.

    What’s the date on this?

A and F body use the same trans, right?

    A833 - gearing

    Balls...well, worth a try.

    A833 - gearing

    Uhh...got a build date? Because I think there's a chance that's a 70 AAR/TA box.
  24. Jarlaxle

    A855 - 5 Speed

Considering you have a 3-speed...is it going behind a slant six?
  25. Jarlaxle

    A855 - 5 Speed

I'm finally in a position to get the hot rod I have wanted for 20 years. Because it will be a driver, I was thinking about the 855 as an OD option...but not after reading this shitshow! Tremec, please.

    T-10 Bell Housing?

T-10's went behind 475lb/ft engines in 4000lb cars.

    NV4500 question

Yep. Any 1994-2001 2500 or 3500 Ram with NV4500 and gas power would have the right bellhousing. Not sure, but a V10 might use the same bell.
