    fuel line?

Is your line coming from the gas tank? On my '65 Dart there were several clips and a hole in a cross member (K-member?) keeping the fuel line in place as it went to the fuel pump. Glenn

Well for whatever it's worth I just got back from a shopping trip. A Wix filter and a 5 quart jug of Castrol 10W-30 High Milage oil. Will see how it works. ..and thanks for all the support! I do really appreciate it! Glenn

Which oil for my /six? Yes, I know this has been asked b4!

I understand that people have strong views on things like 'which brand oil' or 'which brand filter'? Thanks all for being level-headed in your responses so far. Glenn

Which oil for my /six? Yes, I know this has been asked b4!

Adding zinc, okay. What would be a easily found zinc additive I could find at O'Reillys or Autozone or NAPA? Glenn

Which oil for my /six? Yes, I know this has been asked b4!

Have read threads here and on other sites. I may be regretting doing so. So my recently bought '64 Valiant has a 225cid /six. The oil is nicely black and I'm sure in need of changing. I've come to the conclusion to get a Wix oil filter, which is no problem here. But what oil to run in my...

    Decode this engine code?

Was under the engine today looking for any sort of number which may shed some light as to what year this engine and tranny is. Remember I have a '64 Valiant with a column mounted shifter. Automatic tranny's in 1964 were supposedly push-button. So I have a bit of a mystery! Found on the...

Valve cover gasket: cork or rubber?

So 'cork' gaskets need a sealer? The last time I remember fooling around with gaskets I was a teenager. Been a while. So I've forgotten stuff! Glenn

Valve cover gasket: cork or rubber?

Looks like the 225cid slant six in my recently acquired '64 Valiant is leaking some oil. I discovered the bolts were very, very loose. Have tried to snug them down a bit but oil still seems to be leaking out. So am considering replacing the gasket. Fel-Pro makes two kinds of valve cover gasket...

    Decode this engine code?

Okay, from underneath. Is this on the pan itself or in the vicinity of the pan? Glenn

    Decode this engine code?

The 'R' is definitely a 'R'. Can't see any stamping between the 'R' and the number '1'. So where should I look for a the oil pan rail VIN? Look from top of car or underneath? Off to work! Glenn

    Decode this engine code?

So my recently acquired 1964 Valiant looks to have a 1965 or later slant six in it. Being told that 1964's did not have automatic transmissions with a column mounted shifter. Mine has one. Read somewheres that column mounted shifters came in 1965 and later. So could someone decode the code...

    Valve cover was too loose...

I just bought a 1964 Valiant last Tuesday. After getting it home I noticed there was a oil leak. Today trying to detect the source of the leak I narrowed it down to the valve cover. It appears to be coming out near the back end. So I checked the nuts/bolts holding the valve cover on. They were...

    170 versus 225...

Can one tell the difference between a '170' slant 6 and a '225' slant 6 just by looking? Are there any obvious signs other than what a sticker on the air filter housing says? I'm thinking around 1963 thru 1966 roughly. Any thoughts? Glenn
