    383 build!

Looks good, what did your d150 have before for an engine? It will sure haul *** now. My 440 that i built twists mine sideways a bit when you come onto it from a stop. Then when you let off all the weight goes back down on the front suspension. Its very sweet :-)

    oil pick up

Has your oil feed inlet in the block been oversized to 1/2? If not id say keep it stock.

    Head bolt Re-Torquing

I read it somewhere in a old chassis manual, or somewhere along the way. Just thought I would see what other people thought. As I though it was a bunch or work for nothing.

    Head bolt Re-Torquing

I used the 12 point 440 source head bolts. Still a no on the re torquing? Its just that ill have to remove headers and brake booster to do it.

    Head bolt Re-Torquing

I built a fairly stock 8.6-1 compression 440 with iron heads. I used steel shim .020 head gaskets with copper spray a gasket on them. I torqued the bolts properly, just wondering should I re torque after a few hundred miles on the new engine? It is a real pain in the ***, so unless its...

    Big block 383 build!

Here is my truck , though it might give you some inspiration to get your truck done. I built the 446 this spring and just got it in a few weeks ago. So if you run into problems I'm sure I have been there and done it. Just PM me.

    Big block 383 build!

Yes the oil pump doesn't effect the pan or pickup on a big block dodge. The pump is on the outside of the engine near the front. Also a stock pump will be good for your engine but if you already have a high volume one, use it. Maybe get a hardened oil pump drive gear because the high volume...

    Big block 383 build!

Sounds good, maybe we can exchange pics. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people on the truck forum. And the layout isn't as good as abbodies or bbodies. Ill put up a few of mine for you to see too.

    Big block 383 build!

Yes The rear sump truck pan will work with the high volume oil pump. Just make sure you have the proper pickup for the truck pan. Also personally, I like to try to keep cooling systems close to stock. When you start mis-matching things like rads, electric fans and shrouds. Combined with a higher...

    Big block 383 build!

Use the steel shim head gaskets the will bump the compression up a bit. I just recently built a 440 and put it in my 87 ram too. I love these old trucks. Keep the pics coming too man.
