Plasma cutters what do you have?

Don't be. Basically if you want to cut 1/4in you need to locate a machine tha will do 1/2 by hand. Its a loose of thumb, because of the controlled movement and speed, the power has to be there. Any plasma can go on a CNC machine, but high freq will screw with the PC. (unless you spend way too...

Plasma cutters what do you have?

Yeah the TD is a great unit. But the HT offers fine cut consumables and better support than TD does. And running a machine torch on a CNC table settings are alot more critical than hand cutting. The powermax 65 will pierce 5/8 and edge start 3/4 in a CNC setting the TD A80 is about the same. I...

Plasma cutters what do you have?

That's all I have ever used, until a deal on a thermal arc came up that was just way too good to pass up. And it will run circles arround any miller I ever touched. ( probably because the TA is brand new and the millers have all been 70's era machines) My buddy has a miller plasma and it's...

Looking at getting a hypertherm powermax65. To run on a 5X10 CNC table. And was wondering what everyone else has.

    Metal prices...Reality check!

That ok I just called today for some 1/2 by 4in cold rolled bar stock and it was 150 for a 12ft stick. A piece of 3x3 1/16 wall is going for 65 a 20ft stick. I gotta buy about $1000 worth of steel just to build a CNC plasma cutter table. Ouch

    elcetricity question

Yeah but a severance cut will look like a child hopped up on caffeen and sugar while watching TV. And holding the torch. It ain't pritty, but it's cut. But 3/4 will be as smooth as butter, and who dosent want that?

    elcetricity question

Lol. No that's the maximum power draw. It a thermal dynamics A80 plasma cutter. Capable of running all day long on 3/4 in a production setting. It will severance cut up to 1 1/2 plate. It will be part of my CNC plasma cutting machine. I am starting up a business doing custom fabrication/artwork...

    elcetricity question

And here I sit thinking my late 80's box was bad. I'm currently looking to upgrade to rather a 400 or 600 amp service. As I'll be pulling 97A off of my plasma cutter alone. Another 10-15 for the CNC electronics, a bunch for a large compressor, and who knows what for lights, music, welder, drill...

    looking for a mig welder

Look at a new welder that has been put out recently. It's a thermal arc fabricator 181i and 252i both are great units. Both are 220V machines. And are much more capable than any other MIG out there as they are a 3 in 1 machine and will allow MIG TIG and Stick. It will also accept a spool gun for...

    Thermal Arc fabricator 252i

Well here it is, 11 days later and I'm still waiting. They are on backorder, because the cart is not available. I'm told that it will ship on Monday, so I should have it next week. I can't wait, but the excitement has worn off a little, that is untill it arrives.

    Tightest Most Cramped Mopar Shops

Wow my truck, and junk barley fits in my gerage. It's a standard 2 car gerage, the truck is to tight I have about 1/2 inch of room to get in without hitting the top, and have about 2.5 inches in front and about the same in back. And bairly enough room to walk arround it. So how on earth could I...

    Thermal Arc fabricator 252i

It's not supposed to. But with the spool gun I can mig aluminum. I have a close friend with a syncrowave 250DX that will allow me to run it whenever needed. So it was not a great concern. Most of all the welding I will ever do will be out of steel. This is the first machine on a long list that I...

    Thermal Arc fabricator 252i

The price I cannot discuss, because it is a student price while I am attending school. But here is a link. I hear retail is about $2200. http://www.thermadyne.com/Thermal%20Arc%203in1/Fabricator%20252i/product_features.php

    Thermal Arc fabricator 252i

I just ordered this welder. It's a 3 in 1 machine it does MIG TIG and stick. And is spool gun ready. Rated at 250A with 40% duty cycle and at 150A it's 100%. it's a fairly new welder to the market, I saw a demo of it and with my discount I can't pass it up. By the time it's all said and done...

    KOBALT stainless steel tool chest

I can agree but, I would say buy a good name brand Tool set, then slowly add on as you can. I may be lucky, but I have been receiving tools since I was a kid. Ill be 31 tomorrow, now granted I had most of my tools before I ever decided to turn wrenches. And I also purchased a bunch while on...

    KOBALT stainless steel tool chest

When it comes to tools always buy the best. A snap-on, Mac, cornwell, and the like will 1 last forever, 2 covered under a lifetime warranty, and 3 make life alot easier knowing the tool will do the job. Cheap tools, I consider anything craftsman and down cheap. Ever applied a bunch of torque...

my torsion bar remover and installer tool

Cool tool. Although I did nit have much of an issue removing mine. Got lucky I guess. But next time I take them out it will be with a cutting torch. As I'm going to install a mustang 2 front end. I have no room up front for headers. Stupid 3rd gem Hemi, stupid me building headers for a front...

Can a garage be too big?

It can never be too large. My buddy's shop is 45x50. And it's getting small. We tossed arround the idea of buying a wherehouse someplace, and opening up a fab/powder coat shop. But them it would be work not play. And then it's no fun. We jokingly talked about buying a closed down Costco. Figured...
