Radiator recommendation for my 410 stroker

I do have room for a 26", I just figured that if I'm changing I would want to get the best. I would hate to go to a 26" and still be having problems and having to go to a dual pass in the end. I talked to a couple rad shops and manufacturers today and they basically said the same as you. I...

Radiator recommendation for my 410 stroker

I have a 22" b cool, down flow, 2 core with 1" cores. im having a terrible time with heat but mainly because I have a huge ac rad smack dab in front. I'm thinking about a dual pass by northern but still checking into it. there must be a reason why dual pass rads are not commonly used.

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

So I removed the t stat and went for a drive. Ambient temp is 10 degrees warmer then the last couple days. Temps sit at 170 on highway. I'm thinkin you guys are right and my rad is the problem

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

the t stat that I used last year ran at 195 but when I done the ol hot water test it opened late. I bought a new one and it opened and closed at 160, that's the one that dropped me to 175. They are all from Napa, I'm not sure of brand but I'll check. I guess it is possible that my gauges are...

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

I changed out the thermostat for a 160. I now run 175 on the highway. I tested both stats in hot water. They both worked properly.

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

so as I've said I had this problem last year. I did change the thermostat but did not test it before I changed it. I actually kept my old one, just tested and it opens 20 degrees higher than it should and closes at the proper temp. I'll post my findings

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

I actually have three. Electric gauge, idiot lite that comes on at 210 and my fuel injection has a sensor with a display. I've also verified with a heat gun. All good

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

It's not a magnum, just the stat is. Motor is fresh, less than 50 miles and I had the exact problem last year with different motor. It is a brand new b cool 22" 2 core down flow rad. It has the larger cores but can't remember the size off hand. It runs 195 all day long down the highway and...

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

If it stayed at 195 I would be ok with it but it doesn't. To make a long story short I've been running a clutch fan and I've tried a couple electrics. I think I have a water flow issue, I'm running a 180 thermostat but my lowest temp I see is 195. This is with a clutch fan down the highway on...

Do the newer magnum style thermostats flow enough

this may sound like a dumb question but I bought an adapter to use the newer thermostats, the reason in doing so was I couldn't seem to get the original to seal. The adapter I bought is o ringed and seals perfectly. Now it seems like it doesn't matter what stat I use ( 160, 180, 190) my engine...

Another expensive lesson, fried my ac compressor

You are correct, I left it hooked up and pressurized. Yes I did try turning the outer ring. Locked solid.

Another expensive lesson, fried my ac compressor

I pulled my motor last fall, instead of taking the compressor off and depressurizing the system I tied it off to the side. I get my motor back in, try my ac and the compressor is seized. Apparently the way I hung it caused the oil to leak. Can someone help me out here, do I need a new...

hello you guys with mechanical fan and aftermarket rad

Thanks for the reply guys. Ir3333, yes I'm running hot in stop and go traffic with the ac on and hot day. Mgunner, I'm running a clutch fan, not sure of distance due to motor is currently out of car but going by memory I'm gonna say about 1" I'm out of town working right now but I will get...

hello you guys with mechanical fan and aftermarket rad

I'm giving up on my attempts of running an electric fan so now I need to figure out how to mount a shroud to work with my mechanical fan. I have a b cool rad so naturally it has no provisions for a stock shroud, I've got three shrouds that done even come close. Do I need to get a specific...

Electric fan won't cool at highway speeds

I have a brand new 26 aluminum rad from b cool. After doing some searching I know that the problem is the shroud is blocking the air from going through the rad. I was gonna try to rig up some flaps but right now the 160 stat seems to helped for now. Once I rig up some flaps or go back to the...

Electric fan won't cool at highway speeds

With the clutch fan and 180 stat the temp stays at 180 and doesn't budge , I don't like watching the gauge fluctuate by 30 degrees. i just need to fab a better shroud for my clutch fan so I can run my ac at the lights. That's the only reason I tried the electric

Electric fan won't cool at highway speeds

Installed a 160 thermostat, cleaned ac rad and tranny cooler, rigged some carboard for temporary wind guides and very little improvement. It will get me through the trip but the clutch fan is going back on when I return

Electric fan won't cool at highway speeds

It's a puller with a shroud. I read some old posts and sounds like a common problem due to air going around the rad instead of through it. I'm on holidays right now, cars will see about 3000kms of highway driving, I think I'll just try to get a 160 thermostat for now, I know it's a band aid but...

Electric fan won't cool at highway speeds

Just converted to an electric fan, cools great while bombing around town and sitting at lights with the ac on wich is where my clutch fan didnt keep up, thought I had the cat by the balls until I hit the highway. Fan is on 100% of the time and temps vary from 180-210 with no ac. Seems like the...
