To expand on what Oklacarcollecto, mentioned..... Unless it was some early "A"with the smallest wheel/tire combo, the cover board never sat flat with the trunk floor, from the factory. I have a factory E70-14 on a stock wheel in my trunk and it sticks up.

And probably the best option. If the top is old and starting to rip, it needs to be replaced. The last thing you want to do is spend money on something that is headed for the trash.
