I wouldn't buy one single part. I'd start with the absolute tune and verify what you already have. Throwing parts and money can lead to driving cost with greater disappointments. If you find a faulty part or a problem, then make a smart purchase.

I will say this: Many times folks build an engine but trust others for setting everything up. When this happens, the guy tuning/setting it up BETTER know what he's doing. Nothing against your guy, I don't know him. I'm just speaking in general. Usually, the biggest disappointments in power...

Just reading through this and I was like "his cam is very close to a stock 340 cam".... one is advertised and one is @ 050 ... then I see RRR pointed that out... Carb is not too big.

I would go to the weakest spring you have for a starter. I would also see if you can pull more initial timing into it. To me, it sounds laboring in the video. Also, if one end of the engine looks to be obviously more rich than the other end, then you might have one carb doing most of the damage

Factory cast 4bbl intakes work great. They are heavy, but work great. Other than that, a Weiand Action Plus is a great intake, and the edelbrock performer will work good too along with others. As for carbs, I will say this: Get the one YOU feel most comfortable tuning and adjusting. Or...

The pieces you added are great additions to your 318. I would guess something not right with the carb. Was the carb bought new or used?

there is a difference between running it wide open for 12 seconds or holding it wide open for a mile and a half. The factory didn't know how long the car would be wide open.

Up on the RPM's with a down leg booster is a good thing :)

maybe if it was seeing a lot of street time. If it's going to live on the track in the upper rpm's, down leg would be just fine.

You could run it and tune it to work fine, but I don't think it would be optimal size. I think it would be easier to tune a 750 for the project.

This is what I ordered. QF Brawler 750 Double Pumper. I got a 100 dollars off the list price, bought through Amazon and Jegs was the seller.

I have mine hooked up 1 to 1 (direct). I'm still using the 2bbl linkage, but it could use more "professionalism" in the looks department on the dual quads :) I'm running off the original mechanical fuel pump. I have had zero issues.

So I gather it's best to buy the cheaper of the two as there is not much difference.

I'll say it like this: Whatever the issues are, cam, timing, carb setting, bad valves, hole in the piston.... 600 cfm is not to much carb for your engine.
