    Hi-po exhaust manifolds

Do you still need pictures? Cause my '69 340 has the manifolds bolted to it with reproduction hardware. But its under a table with blankets and plastic piled on it but I can get pictures if they still needed.

Summit exhaust kit Hooker Competition recommendations

If you zoom in you can see where the H Pipe bulges just after the trans cross member. The TTI head pipes slid in back there. I welded grinded the H Pipe to collector pipe connection which is forward of cross member hard to see where those join....

Summit exhaust kit Hooker Competition recommendations

The TTI 340 manifold head pipes I used to have on my car ended just past the trans cross member. When I swapped to TTI headers a 8 - 10 inch extension from the collect was needed to hook up to where the manifolds were

    340 vs 360 confirmation

Yeah everyone should run headers blow the doors off all the cars with manifolds. Every car is faster with headers. Every car with headers is faster than every car with manifolds. So stop smoking clear get headers. Puff puff pass....

    340 vs 360 confirmation

You can get a custom cam ground to reduce the losses that the manifolds cause. Most off the shelf cams assume headers hence bigger losses with those.

    340 vs 360 confirmation

The TTI head pipes are mandrel bent right off the 340 manifolds no pinch. They flow like giant over sized sewer pipes. TTI routes the head pipes differently depending on auto vs 4 spd. But either way a full 2 1/2 and no exhaust flow choking pinch. Dynomax Ultra Flo mufflers are straight...

    340 vs 360 confirmation

Gains depend on cam profile, head flow, head flow numbers, stroked or not, and dozens of other factors. A stockish type low cam lift stock port engine will have modest gains like you are thinking. A stroked small block ported aluminum heads 600 lift cam ect will be gaining 50-60 or more hp...

    340 vs 360 confirmation

Modest gains on milder engines yes. With a large cam high flow head and/or stroker then headers can gain 50 hp or so over manifolds. So how much hp headers gain depends on engine combo. If you go with TTI exhaust with manifolds then decide later want headers you can pull head pipes out of H...

    340 vs 360 confirmation

The passengers side '71 340 was more restrictive lower flowing then the '68-'70 pass side. '71 drivers side flowed as much as the earlier ones.

    H or X CROSSOVER?

TTI headers, TTI 2 1/2 inch H pipe, Ultra Flo mufflers, TTI 2 1/2 inch tail pipes with tips, no drone. Ultra Flo on my car not loud at all unless I go wide open throttle and even then the roar from carb sucking in air is much much louder then the exhaust. Dynomax mufflers that are offset in and...

    69 Dart/Barracuda 340/383 tail pipe size?

Yes and had to make sure cars could be thrown together quickly on the assembly line and not have pipes hitting frame, gas tank, leaf springs etc. So the small pipes with pinches restrict flow to some extent but were ideal for a production car assembly line purposes.

    Headers vs 340 manifolds

Can't speak for the various dyno test comparisons done over the years. But I think a more valid comparison is using an unpinched driver side head pipe when testing the manifolds. Also passengers side heat riser could be partially stuck closed too which would choke power too.

    Headers vs 340 manifolds

With stock manifolds the driver side head pipe, at least the stock style pipes, are severely pinched down to clear the torsion bar. TTI routes the driver side pipe differently to get rid of the pinch. So in a lot of cases some of the gain with headers is alleviating that pinched head pipe.

    69 Dart/Barracuda 340/383 tail pipe size?

Most likely Chrysler went with the undersized tail pipes so when they slapped the cars together on the assembly line less chance of pipes hitting gas tank or frame ect. Thats my guess. And like someone said above exhaust gasses cool as they travel rear ward and require less pipe size to flow...

    68 barracuda Exhaust Q

This is TTI head pipe driver's side. This was for a '69 340 exhaust manifold. It is routed like shown in Treblig post above. TTI provided instructions for modifying the auto kick down linkage (cut reweld lever to narrow) is what I remember. Your engine must be centered/located per TTI specs...

    68 barracuda Exhaust Q

The TTI head pipes bolt to the stock 340 manifolds no problems. On driver's side they came two ways: one for auto cars and a diff one for 4 spd cars. The pipe is routed differently then stock to avoid pinching the pipe. Good exhaust pipes are never cheap....

    Dougs headers hitting steering coupler

If its a '72 or earlier style motor mount you can shim between motor mount and k-frame to raise the engine a little bit. I have two shims on one side and one shim on the other to get my headers to fit. The factory k-frame specs were very sloppy which causes a lot of header issues....
