    GM Alternators

Agree with you 110%, and I can't resist poking in my usual warning that adds to yours. More charging current through the firewall connector often melts the connector as a result of contact resistance heat. The original alternators were 35A. Plus, most people add higher current loads such as...

300 HP out of a 318, is it possible with bolt ons?

Regarding the OPs question, this reply from MOPAROFFICIAL will get it done.

Advice: Solid Roller or Hydraulic Roller for street car

Agree. For a stock stroke, 91 octane 318 (your profile says your location is California), you don't need aluminum heads, but they do look nice. If you are in southern California, PM me. There are quite a few 67-69 barracuda people around here.

small block LA 600 Hp set up

100% absolutely agree! That way the heads will not be the limiting factor. I have read and seen that for a small block normally aspirated engine, the maximum HP will be about 2X the intake flow at 0.500. There have been some exceptions, of course, but it's a good rule of thumb.

This is great advice. I would take it.

    Small Block Showroom!

If you didn't want to hear this, just tell me to mind my own business:). I won't take it too hard. You said that you have a high amp alternator. I do too. I found out the hard way, that when using a high amp alternator, the original firewall connector can melt where the alternator wire goes...

Very cool build! Are those PRW valve covers?

    Small Block Showroom!

I asked the builder for a reliable high-performance street engine that runs on 91 octane, and has a smooth idle. 0.060 over magnum 360 block. 4.125 stoke crank. Crank is made by K1, but I don't think K1 makes that stroke any more, so you would need to find another manufacturer. Ported Eddy...

Stroker Motor wont Rev pass 5200Rpm

BTW, the truck license plate of semi-retired IMM owner Fred Hafliger is MPRRNCR. IMM is now owned by his son Brian, and Fred still works there part time.

Stroker Motor wont Rev pass 5200Rpm

I would start with checking the rev limiters. If the MSD unit is a dual limiter (launch and run), what is the launch limit set at? If it is set around 5200, that would be very suspicious. You could try changing the launch limit setting and see what happens. Or, either the FiTech or MSD units...

Do you still live in Indio CA? If so, I would start by drving to IMM and asking them what they think.

Oops, I didn't see Steve's post (I was writing while he posted). Very true. Now is the time to do it, while the engine is apart anyway.

I'll let you know when I go to Irwindale. I'd like to go March 8, but I'd have to ditch a class to go, so we'll see... I second what Fred said about being happier with a stroker. The torque will come in at lower RPM, making it more fun to drive. Brian is very good at listening to what you want...

    428cid sb mopar mock up

Just a brief follow up. The engine has great street manners, and runs like a bat out of hell when you get on it. It wants to run. THANKS, BRIAN!!! Haven't had it to the strip yet. One of these Thursday nights, I'll drive it 25 miles up the freeway to Irwindale. Will probably try it with...

    428cid sb mopar mock up

Thanks, Brian, for the great work you did on this engine! It sounded fantastic on the dyno, and I'm anxious to get it in the car to try it out. I've been swamped with a couple other projects, so it probably won't get put in for another couple weeks. To everyone who has made replies on this...
