    Carburetor cfm calculator

Had a holley 770 on my 340 swinger ran great. However always felt it was lacking at low RPM driving, around the neighborhood and such...built a 600dp to see what would happen, so much "cleaner" at low RPM, off idle is great but I definitely lost my WOT performance....it falls flat much quicker...

    8k rpm ...

Nope, I've heard him drive it. It's up there, and if it's a few hundred off then so be it, it still screams !

Cross ... honestly never figured it would be this big of a deal ! I shift at 6k now with my stock 340, it gets there pretty quick. Didn't think another 2k would be that much trouble ....

    8k rpm ...

No discouragement taken, that's why I posted this ! In my mind it sounds awesome, reality is another thing. Maybe I'll just stroke the 71 340 block I have, put the eddy rpm heads that are currently on my #'s engine and see where that gets me .... I'm sure plenty to have fun ! Also...

    8k rpm ...

Don't have a number in mind honestly, just want it to hold together ! This all stems from a guy near me with a 327/4spd 55 Chevy. He drives the **** out of his car, shifts at 8k everytime he drives it. Sounds amazing!

    8k rpm ...

My head is just fine thanks for worrying about me though. I pretty much already assumed stock parts would not do it without carnage at some point. I know there's a lot that goes into it, was just trying to get some specifics from those that have done it successfully

    8k rpm ...

Ok, don't beat me up on this one. No I don't race, I know it's completely impractical .... thinking of rebuilding the engine in my 70 340 swinger in the near future. Will be putting the #'s matching engine in the corner of the garage, I have a complete stock bore 71 340 that I'd build. My...

Help, Another Oil Pan Leak Thread

Had almost the same problem with a 383 I built. Oil dripping from the rear pan bolts and off the bottom of bellhousing. No oil inside bellhousing... removed and sealed oil pan 3 times and was still leaking. Finally put UV dye in the oil and found it coming from the rear main seal. Could see...

    340 oil pressure? Help

Well now that you met RRR(who's not that bad by the way) , I agree .. your pressure is a bit low, but not going to kill your engine ... factory oil pressure spec is much lower than most folks are "comfortable" with ... to bad so sad on that one .... i personally think you should continue with...

    Plugging Timed vacuum advance hose

I should really start taking notes when I'm making adjustments, im pretty good when tuning my carbs but never wrote down timing numbers. I'll double check hopefully this week some time. I'm pretty sure I adjusted the can to open at 9" vacuum, because I was using manifold vacuum and wanted it...

    Plugging Timed vacuum advance hose

Some good info here. Last year while tuning the new carb on my 340/4spd dart I drove around for a few days with the vacuum gauge hooked up to see what was happening during all different loads, and adjusted accordingly ... I think I will drive around now with the gauge hooked to ported vacuum...

    Plugging Timed vacuum advance hose

does it matter who he was an engineer for ? I've read a lot of what you've written on here and even asked your advise on some electrical stuff, but do you honestly believe gm timing operation differs from Chrysler and even ford ? I think not, the principal and operation is the same across the...

I I completely respect your experience, here's where I'm at with my cars ... 383, xe268h (477/470), source heads, 9.44:1 comp, 727, 323 gear ... vacuum advance to full manifold, points distributor with pertronix ignitor2 : zero slow speed bucking, very smooth off idle throttle response...

    Plugging Timed vacuum advance hose

I think they are. They one i bought from napa for my 340 dart is adjustable, the one that came on my replacement distributor for my 383 is also adjustable... I think the adjustable ones are hex shaped instead of round ? I may be wrong on that though
