    noisy air compressor

Oh you're accessing brain cells that are discrepant. That's CAT speak for bad lol Sorry I don't remember. I remember hearing what it cost though. About the size of 2-3 filing cabinets side by side

    noisy air compressor

We had a screw compressor at Caterpillar that was in a dedicated cabinet. Hardly knew it was on. No way I could afford one either

    noisy air compressor

Here's the one I have: Harbor Freight Tools – Quality Tools at Discount Prices Since 1977 I'm not sure they sell it anymore. It shakes a lot but very quiet, esp. compared to my v-twin oilless craftsman 60 gal. Now that's one I wait till the neighbors are gone to fire up

    noisy air compressor

I have the same one. You can return it. I did, second one was almost as bad. Made a metallic rattling as it got past 60 psi then it really slowed down. About ten minutes to fully pressurize! Manager did his best to embarrass me by grilling me at the register, accused me of inflating car tires...

    Ineffective Foam Cleaner

The ones in a little cage? Yeah my dad did the same thing too. Clean and regrease bearings, man that's the old days! Coaster brakes and riding around with your shirt off

    Ineffective Foam Cleaner

Small jar of gas and a toothbrush works wonders here. Awful smelly though and don't light yourself on fire

Just added a cheater lens to my welding helmet this year and WOW should've done that years ago

    welder/welding

What six said ^^ Also, prep matters on steel even with flux core. Flux core on exhaust, get the metal as clean as possible, sand off the aluminized part, use alcohol etc. Every bit of filth translates into a dingier weld. Always thought it was the welder, turned out it was me causing the...

I either need a different welding helmet, or I need to stop breathing.

It's probably a combo of your humidity and temperature. Lemme guess, you've got fog in the mornings? Anywho, here's what I use and it never fogs up. I also wouldn't trust it with anything more than TIG as the best "dust mask" style respirators don't protect you enough. Outdoors should be...

    Eastwood Mig 90

iirc .030 is the thinnest flux core you can get. Handy stuff if you have to weld outside but will absolutely burn through sheet metal for anything more than a tack if you blink. Runs hotter than solid core because the shielding gas doesn't cool the weld. Or so my welding book says. The...

    China welding machines

Had an Amazon plasma explode and catch fire. It was exciting like a heart attack Bought another one and it is awesome. Used it to cut 3/8" mild without a hitch. People that can afford the good US made equipment do. The cheap chinese stuff is for those people that can't afford a syncrowave or...

    Front load washers....

Still got my parents Maytags from 1970's, autumn gold. Has a couple dials and buttons. Maytag repair guy said he thought it was "neat" how the newer units are designed to wear out and fail. Old Maytag only a few things fail like drier door gaskets and lint trap, maybe a bearing or switch that...

    TIG weld a AL head?

could you could machine it flat and use a copper gasket? I did this on an iron block Triumph with excellent results. Not as fun as learning to weld aluminum though :)

    Mr. Fixit.....

2001 Buell Cyclone would pop out of 2nd gear on hard accel. Swapped 2nd and 3rd gear pairs out to use the unworn decel sides of the dogs(2nd and 3rd use same gears but opposite order). Total cost: 1 circlip and 1 quart of gear oil.

    Amazon plasma cutter caught fire

The new one has an internal regulator and standard quick connector for air on the back

    Amazon plasma cutter caught fire

It went wrong fast lemme tell ya. 12 amps, 65 psi air, grounded to workpiece but I hadn't touched it yet. Fried testing the pilot function into the air. Air pressure might've been off but it's what the manual shows

    Amazon plasma cutter caught fire

I did return it, full refund so I got a different one. The broke one was a hitbox cut55 pilot arc. The new one I have is a dynaloop 50a and it's working awesome. These things cut metal crazy easy. And you don't have to light the torch every time. The dynaloop actually has a decent manual

    Amazon plasma cutter caught fire

Couldn't you just get a different torch?

    Amazon plasma cutter caught fire

It has a 110 and a 220, it can do either and comes with an adapter pigtail. It acted the same on 110 and 220, but failed on 220. The 220 outlet I've used for years with a TIG welder and air compressor with no problems

    Amazon plasma cutter caught fire

I got a $200 plasma cutter for Christmas and here's what happened. Turned on fine, 110 or 220v, but the OC warning light came on a couple times when trying out the pilot function. I hadn't cut anything yet, and cycling the power got rid of the OC light. The third time I tried the pilot arc...

Here's a bunch more info if you get bored, Team Associated RC10 (1984) • (Radio Controlled Model Archive) • RCScrapyard. I have the re-release from a couple years ago. Still unopened in box they keep appreciating. What fun is that though

Got a decent valve spring compressor

I saw the review that said the frame was made out of buttery soft metal and got scared but auto zone is just down the street in case it was actually crap I would just return it. Needed a dab of grease and no problems. This one didn't get made at 5pm on Friday lol Let's see those homemade...

Got a decent valve spring compressor

Old compressor could barely do single springs. Finally had to get a better one after the speedmaster double springs bent it up. The proform feels like it could do quadruple springs or crush wine bottles. Supposedly has a 700# capacity. Cheapest place I could find it was autozone. Silver one is...

    Central Pneumatic Air Compressor

I have an older model, HF (2HP?) "twin tank" compressor. It is built like a tank and has never skipped a beat. Tools, painting, airing up tires... It's very quiet and just keeps going. Great little compressor. Waaaaaay quieter than my oil less Craftsman v-twin (good god)
