    avoiding hot tank fees

He's not asking them for anything for free, he just doesn't see the need for paying someone to do the work if he can do it himself. Don't skimp on the tank tho, but the other stuff that's minor work shouldn't be an issue in them letting you do it yourself. If they nickel and dime you, find...

What is the rpm sweet spot for highway driving

You say a fair amount, but to me that means 40-50 miles everyday or every other day. So how far you going? If you're only up to those speeds for 5-10 minutes, I say put in the fun gears.

    1999 360 question

Any clarification on this? I just picked up a running driving (no reverse) 2000 Durango and was planning on using the motor, but have also read alot about the recomendation to use the 46RE trans with the motor. I also dont want to chop up my car...

Fixing vs. Buying a New Engine / 273

7 1/4 is definitely a weak rear, but with regular street duty it'll hold up to as much power as you can make. the only thing that'll break it is a heavy foot. Rebuild you the motor you want, be careful for now until you can either rebuild an 8 1/4 or go full on and build an 8 3/4

Need help on first time rebuild 318!!

I really couldn't put enough stress on how true this statement is. You're going to want to upgrade to a stronger rearend, not just a new set of gears, assuming of course what you have in the car is stock.

Need help on first time rebuild 318!!

So in this situation, just how much more would it cost to go the route of a 360? Just how much more torque will the 360 give you over that of the 318? I ask this because I'm in a similar situation, and have always been told the 360 is the way to go when considering rebuilding. I have a 318...

Need help on first time rebuild 318!!

While I'm not a seasoned builder, I know that if you havent spent any money on this so far, don't. You'll be MUCH MUCH farther ahead looking for a 360 setup and buy that. Someone with more experiance can chip in here and tell you what exactly to look for, I'm guessing they'll tall you a late...

internally balanced 360 crank (BIG PROBLEM) need input

If they balanced it, or had it balanced, THEY are the ones that YOU paid correct? If they recieved the money, then they can argue with the shop they chose to do the work. Hopefully they stand behind their work, other wise you'll be in court going after your money.

318 or 360? very low budget

the cost difference in 360 vs. 318 in nothing compared to the power differences. Since your obviously willing to put a little time and effort into the swap, 360 will put you ahead in power/torque and cost. If you must absolutly positivly have to scrimp on money, save for a few months and go 360...

    stock 318 more torque?

What's your budget? If youve only got 500 bucks to play with, your pretty limited, but could do a set of gears if you can do them yourself. I love stalland gear cars, even on small power they can be really quick and upset alot of horsepower junkies.

Motor sitting for years, what to do?

So the motor in the Valiant has been sitting for a decade+, it had a semi fresh rebuild on it a few years before it was parked, MAYBE 10k miles on it? give or take a few thou. I already plan on pulling the motor anyways to do some rewire of the rat and birds nest it has become in the time I...
