4" Bolt Pattern 10" Brake Drums

If you see my post at http://www.earlyabodyforum.com/board/messages/394/2431.html you'll notice I said it took a couple of tries to get the right parts. The part number listed at that link on the Early Abody Forum is correct, but Napa and whoever else has errors in their computer and they...

    disc brake question

Ya, I think the SSBC kit is very cool, especially since you can do both 4" and 4.5" wheel patterns, but if you like to hunt parts and are ambitious to do some work yourself, getting the KH factory stuff is probably cheaper.

    disc brake question

Small bolt pattern rotors are kinda hard to find but not impossible, check here for clues: http://www.earlyabodyforum.com/board/messages/394/1079.html The calipers are available from www.calipersonline.com or you can rebuild them yourself, just order up pistons, piston seals and pads for a...

    disc brake question

Oh ya, you'll read a lot of stuff on the internet about changing over to discs but most of it is talking about switching to large bolt pattern single piston discs, which seems to be a very popular choice so a lot of the articles don't specifically mention they're about the large bolt pattern...

    disc brake question

You need a small bolt pattern disc setup from an a-body, OR you can buy the Stainless Steel Brake conversion, OR you could go with the Scarebird brand conversion (which is cheap and kinda hokey). Stainless Steel conversion is well documented here...

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

The stock Mopar KH 4-piston disc calipers use the exact same pistons, dust boots and brake pads as those on a Mustang...same part number! I draw the line at a Chevy motor in a Mopar....no thanks.

    disc brake conversion

For $600 you should be able to aquire small bolt pattern Kelsey Hayes original '66-72 discs and everything just bolts right one, no machining, grinding or customizing like the Scarebird kit. Too many caveats with that Scarebird...they have the most appropriate name I must say!

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

How's the seals working out longgone? It's been a couple of months, everything still holding together? I have a spare set of KH spindles and calipers, no hubs or rotors...so they are perfect candidates for this type of conversion.

    disc brake ?

Do you mean your brake lights or the small dash brake warning light that's hooked to the proportioning valve (P-valve)? You said you replaced the proportioning valve with the correct new master.....but that doesn't make any sense. Those are two seperate items. Do you have a proportioning...

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

I was just looking at photos of the SSBC (Stainless Steel Brakes) KH disc conversion and wouldn't you know it, their rotor looks just like the Mustang Rotor! http://www.earlyabodyforum.com/board/messages/2/2922.html I think you've just figured out how SSBC puts their kits together.

    Where can I find 10 x 1.75" Drums?

I get the same kind of answer if I tell suppliers it's a '65 Barracuda. They say it should have 9" drums, but the Formula S models had 10". Tell them it's a '70 340 Duster or a '70 340 Dart or something like that.

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

There's a bearing place here where I live that is renowned for coming up with just about anything you need. They've been in business forever in the same location. I'm just not up on this stuff, although I do have the KH discs on my car. If you had the exact dimensions needed I could go visit...

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

Oh ya, I like my 4-piston KH's instead of single piston later style brakes because the rotor rides at the back. The later style ones ride at the front. I would have to remove my front stock anti-sway bar to use later style large bolt brakes. Your Mustang rotor thing is the answer man! Did...

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

I knew the Mustang stuff was made by KH and both systems used the same pads and pistons and stuff like that, didn't know about the rotor thing though, very cool! What do these seals looks like? Are they all rubber? What about having them made? There's some rubber places that are not totally...

    Left hand wheel studs

I needed one for my 10" front drums on my Barracuda and had to buy a box of 10. I had 9 left. I think I sent some away already but I might still have some left, I'll have to check and get back to you. Actually, I have the drums still in a box (switched to KH disc brakes) and they're all on there.

    proportioning valve

Go with the Wilwood or Mopar Performance (same part, different stickers) plumbed into the rear brake line. If you snag one from a donor car, it might not work right and/or it's designed for that weight and handling characteristics of that particular car. With a new adjustable one you can...

    Brake Line Routing Pics Needed!

I need a photo of the brake line that runs across the firewall to the right side front brake. Where does it go down and over to the brake? Through the front frame rail or through the inner fender? My car has a hole in the inner fender where it was, but it doesn't look factory to me. Thanks.

    drum to disc

You don't need the upper control arm, but you need a dual master cylinder made for disc brakes and proportioning valve that is plumbed into the rear brake line. http://www.enbcom.com/cuda/tech/tom_condran/index.html

    Disc Brake question

Yes, all Kelsey Hayes (KH) a-body small bolt discs from '65-72 will mount on the rear of the spindle. This is important for clearance of other items. I don't know about '67 up a-bodies, but my '65 Barracuda Formula S has a factory sway bar and a front mounted caliper will hit the sway bar, so...

    Disc Brake question

The magazine article is using the large bolt pattern later style discs, (single piston) that mount on the front of the rotor. Your 1967 manual would be showing the small bolt pattern early style (4 piston) which mount on the back of the rotor. Don't use that article, there will be other...

    proportioning valve?

You can get an adjustable Mopar Performance or Wilwood proportioning valve. Mopar just puts their sticker on the Wilwood product. They're great because you can adjust the pressure to the rear brakes whereas a factory unit is set to the weight/specs of the car it came from, so you don't want to...

    72 and earlier disc brakes

A guy from the Early Valiant and Barracuda Club mailing list went with the Stainless Steel Brakes swap and found the calipers interferred with his original 14" steel wheels, so he had to change over to rallyes. I believe they come drilled for small bolt pattern or large which is pretty cool...

    72 and earlier disc brakes

Most people will try to convince you to switch to large bolt pattern, which is fine if that's what you want, but if you want to stick with smalll bolt pattern then the KH 4-piston ones are the way to go. They will just bolt right on, no fuss no mess. You will find lots of info about the swap...

    Plumbing a adj proportioning valve?

I put KH discs on my '65 S and plumbed a Mopar Performance/Wilwood adj. proportioning valve into the rear line, right under the driver seat. Not inside the passenger compartment, but outside under the floor. It seemed like a nice place to put it, easy place to cut the rear brake line and the...
