    Scarebird Brakes

I've done both ways, to retain the 5 on 4" (just drill the rotors with the supplied pattern) for the wife's dart and 5 on 4.5 for my rally wheels( just drilled the Hubs and used screw in studs)

    Disc brake rattle

In that pic are some rubber o-rings. just exactly where and how do they fit/go? anyone got a picture of them where they go? I'm so old I trained on Drum brakes as a kid and then went to work at a dealership before disc brakes came out, then moved to bodywork when they did come out. I've done my...

Brake Pedal return spring: 1966 Dodge Dart GT

I just went out to verify my 66 darts (3 of em) none had a brake pedal return spring. what I did have to do on my 65 I sold a couple years ago was replace the master cylinder to get it to return to full up position. (the single pot was full of crud in the 1/4 " or so I needed to bring it up. so...

'73 Disc conversion, but keep 4" bolt pattern

I drilled mine out (drilled the head off ) 1/8" center drill and 5/8" drilled to remove head and punch out from the back side so I didn't have to screw with the swedge part on the front of the stud holding on the drum. knocked em out from the back and no distortion of the hub. It/they fit on the...

Small bolt front disc options for a 65 Valiant ?

According to my instruction sheet for my scarebird setup you just flip the plates from the rear facing way to the front facing direction for either 9 or 10" spindles. using the same rotors and calipers+ hoses. rotors are already 5 on 4.5 so you need to use the template to go to 5 on 4" pattern...

    Wheel stud swedge cutting tool

!!! Crap I worked way too hard on mine then #$%#$% I flipped mine over and drilled(pilot drilled 1/8" then the same size as the shud shaft) the back side out and just tapped it out without deforming my hub. but I do like your way better!

about to pull the trigger on a scarebird kit

I'm running 14" rally wheels but when I was moving it around in the shop I used the magnum 500 wheels (but I did re-drill to LBP for fronts and rear.) not SBP wheels so there might be a difference. I might have a set of ansens laying around here to test for slotted mag fitment (again LBP)

about to pull the trigger on a scarebird kit

I've done a few of scarebird kits and they all worked great. (2 66 darts. 65 plymouth,69 and 70 charger and 3 70 challengers) the one advantage over most kits is that you can go to ANY parts store and get parts of you need them for your brake repair if you need to. It's sort of hard having you...

Brake Hub help please! Sbp to bbp

if you have disc brakes now but they are SBP, just take the hub/rotor to a machine shop, get some screw in studs from jegs or summit drop em off and tell them you want 4.5 on 5 bolt pattern drilled with screw in studs. that way you don't lose your alignment and you get rid of the...

cuda- single to dual conversion-FINE LINES?

Some just run a line straight to the rear and add an adjustable valve. Some mix and match lines to get them to fit. Some bend their own up. this usually gives you a better fit to your liking even if you buy the rear to front line and just bend up the master to valve lines. I did my first one...

    Help me stop!

look into the master cylinder and proportioning valve setup. I have the scarebird stuff on a bunch of cars that I have done and only one gave me a bit of a problem. 3500 lbs car too! it turned out that I had the incorrect master cylinder( too large a bore and I don't know how many times it...

    So Scarebird it is!

WOW,have you happened to notice how they set up dirt track cars? How bout the midgets? when My stepfather ran midgets in PA. in the 70's,80's and 90's that's all most of the tracks allowed. Some of the blacktop oval track guys do it that way too. also drag racers go for that also to get the...

    So Scarebird it is!

I also had one caliper not fit correctly and ground off the bump, the other side fit perfect, I now have 2 matching (bendix) calipers for the other conversion in the wife's 66 dart. Also to for making the changeover easier I replaced my studs with the screw in type so that I didn't have to...

First Project on the new dart Scarebird Conversion?

the 68's should have the bigger style rims than the early A's 63-66 somewhere in the 5 to 5.5 rims and should fit. Ask the tire experts on the board here to make sure. my narrow rims did not fit. but my wider rim spare did, wish I had 3 more of them.

First Project on the new dart Scarebird Conversion?

my SBP setup didn't fit the steel rims I had, but others have said theirs fit. Mine were the super narrow rims something on the order of 4-4.5 inch 66 v8 econobox tires and not the wider rims. My LBP rallys fit too but one set of normal 14 steel rims didn't fit and one did. I think the one...

First Project on the new dart Scarebird Conversion?

it is except for the small or big bolt pattern choice. plus you don't have to align the car after putting them on if your suspension is good and already aligned. the drill press is to convert either your hubs 9" or 10" with the small bolt pattern to large bolt pattern (hard to do at home but...

Question about Brake Hub and Rotor

I drilled mine out to 5 on 4.5 and used rally wheels. using 9" spindles BUT I was working on it and didn't want to damage the good tires and rims. So I unscrewed the studs for the 4.5 pattern and put back my replacement 4" SBP lugs and bolted on the original 14" rims that came with the...

    Scarebird Conversion

if you'll look at a lot of the lead sleds, rat rods, custom trucks ,cars and vans you'll see scarebird stuff on a lot of them. they're pretty popular out west. that's where I heard of them on the 95 ish or so and they had been out there a while to my understanding not to knock any of the...

    Scarebird Brakes

Nope you don't have it right. at least not for me anyway what "all this work"? ohh the hard part of removing the studs from the hub and redrilling the rotors using a paper template or redrilling the hub to 4.5 and not drilling the rotor. yeah real hard. When you do a swap even with mopar parts...

    Scarebird Brakes

I did my first set that way and then remembered that I'd have to drill each and every rotor after that. so I bit the bullet and just re drilled the stock 9" hubs for the 4.5 pattern. the rotors are now changeable on the side of the road if I have to. since they are factory 4.5 drilled. I like...

    Scarebird Brakes

yup nearly all the vendors do. scarebirds setup will fit EITHER a 9" or 10" setup just by flipping the brackets side to side. my 9" drum were mounted to the rear and the wife's 10" drum setup were mounted to the front (umm so that the calipers mounted that way that is)

9" drum hub drill to BBP?

I have used the scarebird version of the adapters on a 9" hub,10"hub A-body and B-body cars . with the screw in studs (2"long worked for me on the previa rotors) there is enough meat left on the hub. (well unless you doing wheel stands daily, then I'd change them to larger ones.) but that was...

Drilling new rotor holes for Scarebird

I'd take it to a machine shop. I had my hub changes from the SBP to the BBP due to the fact that I could then just swap out rotors if I ever needed to without redrilling the rotors for SBP. The cost should be similar. I paid 35.00 to get both hubs drilled out to BBP. BUT the pattern he gives you...

9" drum to disc conversion confusion

to you the scarebird stuff might look shady and weak. (nothing looks original except original and if your going from drums to disc. it ain't original:D), but I can tell you for a fact that a 65 Plymouth satellite (big b body) with a built 440 in it can yank the wheels up and come down on the...

    Swedge Cutting

X2 on the cutting head off from the back. I looked for one also, $80.00 for the cutter wasn't going to work for me. so I drilled a pilot hole about 1/2 inch deep and then follower up with a larger drill until it was easy to knock off the top (head) of the stud. and hammered out the remains...

    Scarebird Disc - What Master?

oops:banghead: your right I did remove the valve in one of them but the other 3 didn't have it. lemme swipe your number and put it with my corrections sheet to make sure I don't give out the wrong info again. or give out a part number that requires more work!

    Scarebird Disc - What Master?

on my 66 I did, the 65 satellite and others already had an adjustable proportioning valve on them . I used all new hard lines from inline tubes and got their ($90)prop valve(going on wife's dart.). I could have used it. But the one I got on here from a 73+ unit was a whole lot cheaper(that's...

    Scarebird Disc - What Master?

nope just used the stock rod for the 65 plymouth and I have the stock rod in my 66 also. I've done a couple of friends cars too and they all used the stock rod. (get a new rubber piece if you can that goes on the rod if yours is bad, I used an oring/oil and FORCE) they even sent me a new pushrod...
