    1968 Dart sudden rear end noise.

    I would start with the brake drums. Open up and look. I had some retractor springs that weakened and allowed the drums to jam. If that doesn't reveal a result, look into the gears. How many miles on the rear end?

    I use some modeling clay like when I check for tolerances to hold the bolts in the sockets. Easy to wipe off.

    Nice Vert! If you have a converter go for the 3.23. Having said that the 3.55 will get you to the end of a 1/4 mile without over reving. Mine is a 3.55.

    Have you considered just a taller tire? Your barracuda has lots of wheel well. Just an inch or 2 will make a big difference.

    Anybody in your area you can go for a ride with? See how you feel about the high rpm stress vs the giddy up. Was the 3.91 with the same motor? I have 3.55 in my 69 cuda conv with 360 roller, running about 3200 rpm at highway speeds.

    My setup requires quite a bit of throttle movement til it starts actuating the shift linkage. I looked at the Lokar and it looks like it moves at the same time. I'm no tranny expert, but there are others at this site that may chime in. Wish I could be more help.

    I'm not familiar with the lokar shift cable. Does that go from your shifter to the trans or from the carb to the trans?

    Typically there is a downshift linkage from the carb that is adjustable. I use that to adjust when the upshift from 2 to 3 occurs. Does yours have this setup?

    Look at espo 1" springs. They hand pick them for match and get you more clearance.

    So did you use your 7 1/4 drive shaft? Mine is a mild 360 build and I wonder if the 7 1/4 drive shaft is strong enough. Probably 350-375hp when done.
