    Any diesel techs out there

I'm no diesel mechanic, but with gas engines, there are two common problems when it comes to hard starting. 1. bad coolant temp sensor giving wrong temp to ECU. 2. low fuel pressure, due to bad pump, bad pressure regulator, clogged filter, poor ground connection at fuel pump, (I think your...

    Edelbrock 1413 on a 340?

That is one of the articles that I read. They do admit in the article that the original AVS in the initial run was not operating as well as it could.

    Edelbrock 1413 on a 340?

Is anyone using the Edelbrock 1413 800 cfm carb on a 340? Looking for some feedback, good or bad. I have done some research and have heard more than once that it is an improvement over the original carter AVS. I have the original AVS 4612 on my 69 340, hiflo exhaust manifolds, Mopar...

    Restored my air cleaner!

I used Krylon wrinkle paint on my Chrome Mopar performance unsilenced air cleaner. Just scuff it with 220 grit, and the paint adheres pretty good. Just don't paint the underside. Leave it chrome This is an inexpensive alternative to spending $250 on a used rusted original on eBay.

    Vented gas tank

I don't believe that the 69 & older cars had a vented cap. My 69 Dart has a single vent tube near the filler neck that eventually vents under the car near the tank. Blow some compressed air through that to make sure it's clear. Something else to consider is the ethenol used in the fuels...

    Trouble shooting fuel guage.

After sitting for many years, the fuel gauge on my 69 dart worked erratically. A new sender didn't help. I removed the dash cluster and sprayed electrical contact cleaner on the gauge. That fixed the problem.

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

Yes I did, I think it put alot more tension on the choke plate, making for a richer adjustment, and longer partial choke operation. With the spacer installed under the carb, the choke opens up sooner. Does your fast idle cam have any steps on it? Mine does not, and to me that makes it more...

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

Thanks George. Mine is also a 4612, and I found the thick spacer in the box from last year' rebuild. I'll let you know how it works.

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

Does the choke still work properly with the spacer under the carb, or did you have to modify the linkage?

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

George R: Do you still have the divorced choke mounted in the intake manifold?

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

Redfish: Thanks for your reply. I did remove the top immediatly after shutting down a hot motor, and the fuel bowls appeared to be a little less that half full. This looks like a good level, and doesnt overflow into the carb throat. I do not have any hooks from the floats to the needles...

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

I swapped the needles, seats and floats side to side, and I still have the same problem, fuel leaking down the passenger side secondary tube after shutting off a hot motor. There is still that gurgling sound coming from the carb after shutting down the motor, and removing the fuel line does NOT...

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

I'm going to open it up tomorrow and swap the driver side floats and needles to the passenger side to see what happens. This should rule out or confirm the defective parts.

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

I had it rebuilt by a very reputable local shop. He has attempted several times to adjust the floats and the baffles. I dont understand why it doesn't leak while running, only after I shut it down. If the needle & seats weren't correct, you would think it would leak all the time. The...

    69 340 AVS fuel leak

My 69 Dart Swinger 340 has been leaking fuel down the secondaries after shutting off the engine while hot. It's got a new fuel tank, sending unit, I cleaned out the fuel tank vent tube, new NAPA fuel pump, filter, and a recent rebuilt to the original Carter AVS. The motor is the original...
