I dont have any fancy charts...but I have two pickup trucks...94 5.9 2500 with 330k miles on it....original engine and a 99 5.2 1500 with 180k miles...I am original owner...
the 5.9 will run circles around the 5.2,,,,,,,
What is different is the amount of weight balance....the magnum takes less external weight for the balancing....I have a B&M magnum flexplate and the area of cut out is smaller then the LA 360 externally balanced flexplate....I bought it so i can use it as a template also....
driver side motor mounts different...and must provide for external balance of the 5.9 magnum thru damper and flexplate/converter.....the 360 magnum external balance is not the same as a LA 360.
bought a 1999 5.9 engine...had an oil leaking plenum was removed from Durango...140k miles...bores look great...going to hone and put new bearing and rings in it...get a set of heads done for it and it is going into a 88 Dodge d250...hope to have short block back together by next...
hughes makes a very nice set that converts to a shaft style rocker.....but a 3/8 stud small block chevy rocker will work on a magnum. A stud 5/16 conversion to 3/8 stud is used....then pick your favorite brand of rocker...aluminum or stainless
360 externally balanced 1993-97 engines with cast crank. Use supplied counterweight #91013....
the newer magnums harmonic balancer was incorporated with the front pulley....hence the professional product balancer will not work in a OEM situation.
Our 94 Ram 2500 with 324,000 miles is still going strong, I thought it had been replaced or worked on but last week I dropped the pan to replace the rear main seal I thought was leaking and the #5 main bearing looked great and it was the factory original bearing. I replaced the oil pump since...
