I will try to cut a couple of the spark plugs to see if i can get you guys more info, 5 of the plugs are a touch black mid way down the porcelain but cylinder 7 and 8 look the same and the porcelain is pretty uniform as deep as i can see

So should i leave the heat range plug i have in it now and adjust the idle mixture a little leaner? The plugs look white in the photo because of the flash, they are a very light tan/gray in natural light, ill see if i can get some pics of them outside maybe they will show up more true

So why the drastic change going from 93 non ethanol pump gas to 96 vp non oxygenated race fuel? Before on 93 the porcelain was black

Ok trail beast says too much timing and too hot of a plug, you say not enough timing and too cold of a plug. Lol

Thanks for the advice, you are talking about initial timing correct? Also would you recommend i try one range colder?

Cant remember what vacuum, and as far as i know the factory step up springs are installed

Are you referring to initial or total timing by that mark? Is the initial timing closer to the end of the ground strap or the base? Ive seen some charts and they show being able to see 2 timing marks on the ground strap?

Whats the benefit of a non projected plug? Also what is the determining factor or what you look for to determine heat range?

Can you break down what exactly you are seeing and what i should look for? Too rich at idle? Also too much initial timing?

These plugs are a little over 2 years old, no change to carb or anything else since, have been using vp 96 octane non oxygenated fuel for about 6 months. The plugs have never looked that good, they have been pretty much all black on 93 non ethanol

on the valve covers? I thought either gasket out of the pair would work on either one, the gasket i put on the first valve cover lined up perfectly. The mahle ones i got can go on with the lettering facing the valve cover or the head

I just wanted to make sure, i usually oil o rings but was just verifying. Does the little lettering on the gasket matter if its up or down?

Hey guys after getting my intake back on im doing the valve cover gaskets. I applied #2 to the valve cover and have the gasket stuck down, do you guys leave the gasket dry to the head or apply a thin swipe of oil?

Still waiting back from the engine builder so i can send him the pictures, do i have to check the lash? I thought with hydraulic lifters that was one benefit that you dont have to adjust it like you do on a solid lifter, again i am familiar with the operation and everything just havent messed...

You can see a blue hue at certain angles, if you but the light on it and look at it directly it appears to be just polished, but im not as experienced as most of you guys when you all have seen more cams then i probably ever will

there was only maybe 1/2 oz of coolant in the valley on the driverside front from pulling the intake, maybe less than tablespoon, closer to a teaspoon amount. the coolant drained for a day before i pulled the intake. Never have had any indication of coolant in the oil

I contacted the engine builder just waiting for him to get back in touch with me so i can send him the pictures of it, i know some things are hard to tell in photos.

The only time it looks blue is when viewed from a angle with light on it, it definitely looked worse with my led flashlight. When a light is on it you can get a blue hue at certain angles but with just the ambient light it doesnt appear to be blue.

I dont remember for sure but i think they used redline break in oil. Ran it for a little while with that in it once the engine was installed then changed it for mobil one

Yeah its weird, with the light directly on them they just look polished but any light at a angle and they have a blue hue to them, it does appear to look a lot more blue with the led lights vs the regular drop light
