Which fan clutch should I run???

I had a problem with the jobber fan clutches. They are all too long I found. I had a factory 7 blade fan for my 71' 340 Duster with a stock rad and it had an old if not orignal clutch. I wanted a shiney new one and tried all the parts store ones with no luck they all hit the rad or where...

    Heater Hose shut off?

Box was rebuilt and cables adjusted previously, I used foam tape for door seals as the kit wasn't around when I did it but the foams held up ok. I've seen some nice manual shut off valves in the earls plumbing sections at speed shops I may look at.

    Heater Hose shut off?

I drive my car untill the snow flies and heat is required some of those days, however I noticed the amount of heat generated in the cabin from the heater box with just coolant flow is pretty high. For the hot summer days I'd like to put a ball valve inline on the supply side. Any...

    I need a bigger radiator....

Demon where did you get the 7 blade fan? Will if fit the viscous fan clutch? As long as I am moving my car is great but idleing in traffic on a hot day the temp will climb a bit. Hvae the 7 blade water pump, 180deg Mr. Gasket t-stat and water wetter the stock rad was cleaned and checked...

    Cooling crossroads

I'll try a stat, I ran the 180 as a lot of people told me the 160 would let to much coolant flow through the rad and not allow it to transfer the heat. Thinking this winter for the cheaper of the options to have the rad re-cored with the bigger tubes. Rad shop did one for a guy with a 440...

So how hot is Too hot then? Where do most guys seem to run temp wise in city traffic?

    Cooling crossroads

It did help, it runs cooler on the open road then it did before and can drop heat quicker, before it took a lot longer to disapate the heat.

    Cooling crossroads

I always thought it was too hot, the car gets very sluggish above over 200 and will hesitate and bog a little if punched. Wasn't sure if everyone else was able to keep their cars cooler.

    Cooling crossroads

I played that game already too, its about half and half. I was worried before about the fact the clutch fins sat so close to the rad -see 1/4"- So after reading here I bought a clutch unit most bigblock guys use from a Jag. It had a short shaft and gave me 1" or better clearance and the...

    Cooling crossroads

Like the title says I'm at a crossroads with my Duster. Its a mild 340 but at .060 over now it runs hot. It had the a/c 8 blade water pump, Mr.Gasket 180deg t-stat, water wetter, New Viscous Fan package, shroud and the rad was recently checked a cleaned. The issue is traffic. On a hot...

    Vicous Fan

It's been hot here 32deg celcius which is around 90. With a 180deg t-stat and swapping back to the old fan clutch which runs 1/2 or so from the rad the car runs 190 on the highway and around town up to 200 at a red light. I'll try a 160deg t-stat again and see before I get too bothered with...

    Vicous Fan

Well back to an old post, not sure if its related or not, but with the new 340 the car runs hotter then before -and the Jag fan clutch and mopar fan- It's nothing to see even 200 on the highway and 210 stuck in traffic. All this with an 8 blade water pump and 160deg t-stat. I read a bunch...

    Vicous Fan

Well after a few hours of internet and driving to various parts places I found someone who sells Hayden which sadly enough is Canadian Tire I dont normally shop there. They had the 2747 which is a factory replacement for my car but its a no go too long. From there I found the application for...

NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can get Hayden you name it I called em'. Only one Performance shop has even heard of them and would order it at $95 bucks and 2 - 3 week wait. I can't even look at a Mopar performance one unless I pay for it at $160 because its special order. Does anyone know...

Sounds good, I'll call the parts guys and see what they can do, from the website Hayden is 4 Seasons so NAPA should be able to get me what I need. Rod: I've read about the mopar one not fitting for some guys too. I;ll check Crosstown though if the parts guys can't get me a Hayden one. I'm...

    Vicous Fan

Well I'm back at square one. I went to NAPA tried all 3 clutch units. The actual finned area is about double the width of mine no big deal but ALL are too long. The stock replacement is WAY to long the heavy duty is close but just a little too long and the centrifugal is the worst. The...

Works for me, mostly what I needed to know was if it was a mopar performance only thing or someone like NAPA can get a hold of it. The NAPA boys here arn't too bright once you say 1971 but I'll try.

    Vicous Fan

I've run this far for over two years and the unit is fairly old. Its always been this close -to the point when slideing the fan in the hub scrapes before on the waterpump shaft- I was always curious if this was the norm. The fan itself is a mopar part with a pentastar and the number...

    Vicous Fan

The viscous fan that was on my Duster rides really close to the rad 1/2" maybe? No matter the water pump if alsways been this way. Does anyone have a measurement of the shaft length on a viscous fan to see if mine is longer?
