    It will work. When I upgraded from a 7 1/4 to my 8 3/4 i swapped the backing plates from the old axle to the new one.

    i had both axles in my garage and was looking and decided to try, and it just so happened to work. I've had the swap done for a few months now and haven't had a problem.

    When i blew up my 7 1/4 (which had bbp) and i got my 8 3/4 it had sbp. I took the backing plates off of my 7 1/4 and they've been working great!

    Yea the flexplate has the half moon cut out on it. So we should use the 65's torque convertor over the rv's? I only ask because this motor has an rv grind cam and the heads have been milled (along with the edelbrock performer manifold) and i figured that we should run what came with the motor.

    My Dad is wanting to swap a 78 360 out of an rv into his 65 sport fury, both vehicles have 727's. We're wondering if the torque convertor from the rv will swap into his trans in the fury? Any input is appreciated

    I just purchased an 8 3/4 out of a 70 duster. I have a question about the brakes; will i be able to swap the brake drums off of my 7 1/4 my new 8 3/4? The 7 1/4 is bbp while the 8 is sbp, and i just got new yukon axles that are bbp. The drums off my old 7 1/4 only have about 200 miles on them...

    Like everyone else has stated you had better not beat on it. I just blew my 7 1/4 with my duster, and it only has a mildly built 318. Being young and dumb i couldn't keep my foot out of the loud pedal!

    Well the axle i am looking at is coming out of a 68 cuda so i assume that it'll physically bolt up to my 73 duster? Also my dad and i were discussing the shock mounts, he doesn't seem to think that I need new ones. Any info is greatly appreciated

    That's one reason why i didn't want to get an 8 1/4 unless it was the only one available to me. I like the idea of being able to change out the center section depending upon what i was wanting to do with the car.
