Catching a non-rotating lifter on first startup.

Could you chuck it in a lathe and put a dial indicator on the tool post? Without rotating the cam run the indicator across the lobe with the tool post.

No start after intake and carb swap. Stumped

Nothing wrong with doing it that way either.

Try rotating the housing so the rotor is pointing between #1 and #8 terminals a little closer to #1 than #8.

It will only vent an insignificant amount so for the practical purposes needed for a properly working cooling system it is not vented. Once the pressure is equalized at 7psi between the tank and radiator it will increase in pressure until it reaches the pressure of the cap on the reservoir. Then...

    Overheating issues

For the system to work properly The radiator has to be able to displace an indefinite amount of expanding fluid or the pressure will rise above rating of the cap. A system without a vent in the overflow tank can't do that. When the pressure in the radiator vents into the tank it equalizes the...

If the cap is vented to the overflow and the overflow is not vented would the system be vented?

Agree, it's not blocking flow. It can trap air if it is above the radiator. It would need a bleed at the high point to allow air to escape and the fill point to be higher than the high point to completely fill the system.

Temp guns don't read well on shiny aluminum. Try spraying flat black on the places you want to check. You can wipe the paint back off with some lacquer thinner when your done. Hoses usually read cooler than metal surfaces.

    72 340 balancer

You might be able to drain the oiĺ and bore scope it to see if it is a forged crank without pulling the pan. Worth a try.

    72 340 balancer

I agree with Rusty. My experience with out of balance motors on the dyno is that the vibration is most noticeable at speeds slightly above idle. The vibration may even diminish somewhat above 2000ish.

    UTG wins!

I said. "Thank goodness for rumors. For a minute I thought you were going to have to accept that Tony won the race." In this case I think my choosing the word "accept" in this sentence fits the definition of the word and the message I was trying to convey. However I have been know to use the...

I'm guessing with his converter the carbs better be dead on or it all goes to crap. I sure it's not the first time a fussy acting carb cost somebody hard earned cash in a race.

I don't know if the valve can hit the piston stop in your application. I always loosen the rockers or pull them off just to be safe.

Axle stuck in warped 8.75 housing...please give advice..ty

Makes more sense when there is a housing on it. A shaft goes through the housing end and then through the bushings in the center section. There are bushings that go on the ends of the shaft that fit in the ends of the housing where the bearings go. When its straight the bushings will slide...

Axle stuck in warped 8.75 housing...please give advice..ty

I have a fixture for straightening rear end housings. I mostly do ford 9" but I have the stuff for an 8 3/4. Shipping is probably a deal breaker unless you have a way to get it to me and back. PM me if you think it would work out.
