    Air bleeds

NO, Air bleeds are for Idle and power circuits and they change just those circuits. Richening or leaning the given circuit. The main jet controls both circuits. Air bleeds do just that control the air the jet controls the fuel.

    650 or 750 cfm. carb??

I would personally use the 770 street avenger, this way you get the electric choke that you want and the tuneability that you need. These carbs have very good street manners and great drivability. I would put them against the Eddy's anytime. The 770 would be large enough for your engine at this...

    650 or 750 cfm. carb??

IMO I think that you need to tell us what you have in mind for a cam and what amount of head work you plan on having done and is the compression ratio staying the same or is it going to be increased? I don't ever run anything smaller than a 750 VS carb on the street, and alot larger than that on...

quick fuel metering plate conversion kit... pics..

What is the cost verses the metering block conversion from Holley? The Holley is $40.00 without the float or the extentions, but you can get the flat type extentions from Mr Gasket for $10.00 and use the std float. Just courious to see which way is cheaper and achieve the same job. I know QF is...

    General Carb info

If it's going to be street only and car shows and the like then a 600 would fit the bill nicely.

    Big carb options.

I've seen alot of problems with the 8896's metering so I would rec. a 9375, this is one of the best carbs that holley has in the dom. line of carbs. IMO

    carb problems

It could be the wrong size squirter or a lean condition from having too small of jet in the primaries. Do you know what size squirter the carb has in it? If it's a 31 in the front and back then you may need a 35 or 37. If this doesn't help then jet the carb up about 4 jet sizes. A readjustment...

    plug reading

The outside air bleeds should be about .063 or so and I want you to find out what drill that they are and drill them .005 larger. .068-.070 will do the trick, but if you woble and drill them larger then you'll have to jet the primary side up about 3-4 sizes. You need to have the front fuel...

    plug reading

Do you have a pin drill? If so then enlarge the outer most air bleeds .005. The outer most air bleeds are the 4 outer most holes in the top of the carb. If you look down the top of the carb and you can see these in the rear. You will have 2 holes located next to the discharge nozzle and 2 holes...

    plug reading

If your plugs look like this the air bleeds are too small on the idle circuit. Mid 70's jets are small enough for a 750 cfm carb. Looking at this from a tuning stand point, a good high output ign. system won't allow the plugs to show any color, in other words the plugs will stay clean all the...

    Rich Carb

Dan, The only one I see in summit is P# SUM-900009 it's $19.95.

    Rich Carb

Dan, You can get them at most any auto parts store for about $20.00. Take the spark plugs out and screw the appropriate adapter in and you'll need to have the other plugs out also and hold the carb throttle plates open then crank the engine over about 4 revolutions and read the guage.

    Rich Carb

Wally, Give us a cylinder pressure reading and we can get close, but we need the cam specs also as this makes a big difference in compression on cranking.

    Rich Carb

But in that case you still have to know what jet is in the carb. So the top will have to come off as this is the only way to see the jets in the rear of the carb. I think the carter strip kits are still available they use to be about $60.00 they give you jets metering rods and springs. They also...

Help to I.D. a Holley Carb?

A 780 was a VS carb, and by the venturies it looks like a 600 or maybe even a 390. But I've never seen a DBP with electric operated choke. What ever it is, it's a small one. As for the # on the airhorn it will say list and then a P# or it will have R-then the #.
