    Isky 264 Mega in a 400

You could retard it a couple of degrees from the recommended intake centerline. To close the intake a little later.

    Distributor bushing removal in car

I may have to make my own somehow. If I think hard enough I'll find a way to get it out.

Aluminum heads with a low compression 440 will loose compression? Huh?

Harley ironhead sportster, harley flatheads, BSA and Truimphs from the 50s. All these and more had cast iron heads. With low compression of course.

    Distributor bushing removal in car

So I bought a tool but realized after I got it, it's only for installation. I havent found one to remove it it while in the car.

Yes that bushing. I'll have to Google it and get one.

    Distributor bushing removal in car

Is there a tool to remove / replace the distributor shaft bushing while the engine is still in the car. It's a 440. Mines getting loose and doing weird timing tings.

    Rebuilding 902 heads

If you get that cam, get their matching springs and retainers. You can get a set of Elgin replacement valves for 140.00 on ebay. I have used them in a 440. They work fine. If you want better, get some stainless 2.14, 1.81 valves for more power. And more cost.

Who's Running an Edelbrock CH-28 2x4 Intake on the Street?

I don't think two thermoquads would fit that intake. The carbs are very close together. Unless you made some offset adapters

Who's Running an Edelbrock CH-28 2x4 Intake on the Street?

I had a lokar kick down cable and throttle cable. It worked just fine. Pedal pressure was normal.

Who's Running an Edelbrock CH-28 2x4 Intake on the Street?

I had one on my 66 coronet with two 600 Edelbrocks. My 440 was 9.4 to 1, hughes 228 232 @50 cam. Headers and some head work. It ran well. Very responsive. I first had progressive linkage but it was much more responsive with both carbs opening the same rate. The only issue I'd get was some poor...

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

I made 415 hp and 465 torque with this dopey cam and an actual 7.5 to 1 compression. Excellent response and great midrange torque. No girls look at me because I put quiet mufflers on it.

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

All the people saying the Hughes cam is to much, won't work, not enough compression, have not used one. Or cannot tune an engine.

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

One more thing, Ive driven cars with 3.91 gears all over. No big deal. I have 3.55 in my coronet with the low compression 440 and it's just right with a 28 inch tall tire. 3 73 gears isn't much different. It'll be fine.

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

With those pistons you will have approximately 8 to 1 with a steel shim head gasket. I have a set of these pistons and just measured them yesterday. It will work just right with that cam. Could you make more power with some 2355s, yes, but if these are new I'd run it with the Hughes cam. I'm...

Any advice on my 440 recipe?

It will work well. I have used the next step smaller whiplash cam in a 7.5 to 1 440. It's 229 242 @.050. I ported my 452s and made 415hp 465 lbs ft on the dyno. I used a ch4b intake and a 750 3310. I just freshened the motor. It was from a 77 fury and had dished pistons. Just make sure you have...

Actually it's this cam. Made by Elgin, melling, etc. I also degreed a mopar performance magnum cam. Same specs.

    440 Help Needed

Thats not a big cam. With good compression and the timing dialed in right. It should idle just fine with a 750 Holley assuming everything is in correct working order. Even at 15 degrees at idle, it should run good. Although I'd probably add more, depending on what the motor likes. Also, these...

    77’ 440 rebuild

I agree. No need For an electric fuel pump. My 66 coronet ran great with a tunnel ram, two 600 carbs, 5/16 line and a stock replacement pump. It eventually went bad after 14 yrs and I put in a good performance mechanical pump.

    77’ 440 rebuild

A set of speed pro 2355F would be a good piston for this. Even the summit 6401 is a nice street cam.

    TTI shortys

I put the shorties in a 68 barracuda with 440 4 speed, power steering a couple of years ago. Had to buy a specific starter that TTI tells you to use. Tight but Everything fit.

Isn't it nice how some people will post a 1000 words to criticize a question or post, rather than a few words to answer it. Some people live very boring lives.

505 stroker fresh off the dyno - Power seems low? Thoughs?

Where did you have it dynoed? My old boss and myself have always had good results from R&R Performance in spring lake park. Over 10 yrs ago we took a 512, edelbrock heads, I believe 238 @ 50 hydraulic roller cam, performer rpm, 750 demon carb. It made 538 hp and 624 ft lbs. Granny could drive...

    whats reasonable compression for 383

I've seen non magnum 383's with a calculated compression after cc ing around 7.8 to 8 to one. You should cc first if its apart.

    shaving 452's

That said, you can still make a low compression 440 move pretty good with the proper cam selection, intake, carb, ex combo. I had a 77 440 in a 70 Coronet. I put a magnum reproduction cam in, pocket ported the heads, the old Edelbrock ch4b intake and headers with 3.91s and a 750. It ran real...
