    383 Exhaust Manifiolds vs. Headers

Manifolds are not a terrible way to go. They are in many cases, a better flowing design then other brands cast iron options. Bear in mind the FAST (factory appearing stock tire) class of racing that go rediculiously fast through stock manifolds. I would take the time to clean up the ports...

how to quiet down 3 inch exhaust

Resonator is auxillary muffler, normally glass pack shaped, that aids in sound cancellation. I agree with the others, many of the glass packs out there are not much bigger then the piping diameter itself, so they don't eat too much real estate. Run as long as possible. You might be able...

Custom Headers from existing Hustler Headers?

Are you planning on doing this yourself? Yes, there is probably enough bends in those headers to make it work. I would not expect a fabricator to want to do it this way, as they probably have access to loose mandrel bends, which would be easier to work with. If you intend to do it, a...

    loudest possible exhaust for /6

Loudest would probably be a small bullet style glasspack dumping underneath. I have a Thrush welded (Flowmaster 40 series equivalent) dumping at the axle, with 2.25 tubing. Idle and low RPM gives a (flack jacket installed) 5.0 Mustang Flowmaster sound, that changes into slant 6 sound at WOT.

    Harold's F'ing me over - big time.

What is the primary tubing diameter on these headers? What size is the collectors? Are these sizes appropriate with everyone, or is there a better / more ideal configuration? Would you want them with the a 3 bolt header flange, 2 bolt ball type flange, or as seen with straight flange?

Bark too much for bite! Which Muffler?

Super Turbo or Magnaflow is my opinion. Dynomax has their Thrush family of mufflers, that has a few 3 pass "turbo" style of mufflers that would do well for what you want.

    Shorty headers, Ram or Dakota?

Has anyone tried using shorty headers intended for Magnum engines from Dakota or Ram, in A body chassis? I am particularly interested in 70-76 as opposed to earlier A body applications? Are are the exhaust ports the same on LA and Magnum engines? I thought they were but not completely sure.

    A Body Shorty Stainless Headers

Impressive. A true gentlemen can admit the mistake, and convert disbelievers into believers (and possible customers). I do believe there is a strong market for a quality, 3/4 length header in various materials. Mopars with the "drag link through the primaries" suck, plain and simple. A set of...

    A Body Shorty Stainless Headers

I agree, the are gorgeous pieces. While I understand why some applications need equal length, I am willing to be 99.9% of the POTENTIAL customers on this site do not need the equal length. His post reads that he will only do it his way, people on the forums don't want to spend money, and...

    A Body Shorty Stainless Headers

That post does not make you sound too pleasant. Unequals would do just fine on a STREET based application, that does not need THE BEST of everything. So one cylinder is longer the another, the intakes are not perfect for distribution, rich in the center and lean out on the ends. IF you decide...

    Turbo or Welded

Their welded is more like a Magnaflow, straight through, but it is closer to Flowmaster then turbo. The 'turbo' is a 3 pass muffler, with the fiberglass packing for sound absorption.

what kind of muffler is this?

It is DEFINATELY a Flowmaster knock off. It is identical externally, but if it were an actuall branded Flowmaster, it would be stamped with their name along the seam on the top/underside, kind of like the end "INLET" like this:

Exhaust opinions / Mandrel bent 2.5 or 3" / Input?

I thought about doing it myself, I have the welder, and they will provide me the bends (I am designing up the turbo system in my head, counting bends, etc that will come from them) but I am going to have them do it for a couple reasons: Fishing 3" (still undecided) on an A body is probably best...

Exhaust opinions / Mandrel bent 2.5 or 3" / Input?

Keith Mopar, that is very close to what I am having done, but the muffler is pre-axle. The guys doing it are a semi-local muffler shop (hour drive for MPG Experiment) :D but they can mandrel bend. So they are going to build it from mandrel bent sections, much like yours.

Exhaust opinions / Mandrel bent 2.5 or 3" / Input?

It will be a single system, from trans to bumper. I am considering the 3" to the muffler, and 2.5 out, but we will see. My gut says 3" to keep backpressure down as much as possible once the turbo is installed. The 3" may be way too much for NA but it forces me to follow through with the...

I absolutely agree. 2.5 inch system from one of the above vendors, plus a couple bucks at the local shop, to make the manifold to intermediate pipes, and you will be golden. 2.5 might be slight overkill, but it will allow it to breath, and it should handle just about anything else that might...

Need your help on 383 Dart exhaust
