I know the wrap on Harold and the infamous spitfires. Lots have been said in many different places. Positive and negative. I PRE-PAID for my set in late summer, KNOWING that I would not need them until ~ the new year, 09. Total time between order and delivery: 6 months.

I DID make a few calls down to check status of the headers. Harold indicated that he buys tubing in batches to save costs, which sometimes slows him down. So be it. Today I received my headers. They look very nice. The will be fit into the 73 Dart Sport, with a 340. Once extensions and pipe connections are made, they will go out for ceramic coating.

My OPINION; if you are willing to be patient, you will get a very good product for a very good price. Plan ahead. If you don't have time, someone will have TTIs on the shelf at $800 that they can send right out.

One suggestion; before sending them out for final coating, seal up the ports and do a leak test of all the welds. I checked mine over carefully with a stong light and found 1 pin-hole above a collector. No biggie, 1 dab with the MIG will fix it. Its better to find it now than later!

Good luck.... Happy Spitfire owner Mike

I'm sure you are a happy camper that you received them. I wouldn't jump the gun until that are installed. Even the TTI's have clearance issues for some. In my opinion, before you spend the $$$ to get them coated, install them and put a few miles on them. I'd hate to have you end up dinging them after they are coated. Just my .02.

Side note:
Many of the ceramic manufacturers, will lifetime warranty the coating, but only on brand new headers. You might want to check their rules out....

I have a set i bought in 01 or 02, he's always been slow...the headers are pretty nice for ground clearance and spark plug clearance...and easy to install. I always wish I would have just made some pipes that go from the collectors to under the car for exhaust hookup, which would make installation a bit more difficult, but easier for me to hook up the exhaust since its somewhat difficult at times with the stock collector locations.

I suggest using one of the 1-piece Air Pump style metal/composite exhaust manifold gaskets. I've had those on two different engines with these headers and they don't leak at all. They even kind of look like header gaskets!

You can buy TTI's step headers directly from them for $625 with nickel chrome coating for 67 and up A-bodies. Here's a link

I'm sure somebody wants $800 for them just like everything else people try to get rich off of ignorance. How much did the Spitfires cost? I plan on replacing my knuckle dragger Hookers and was thinking TTI's but I forgot about spitfires. Would like to look at them too but I searched and couldn't find a website.

There is a link in the for sale section with a DIY writeup on the spitfires. The number on there to get a hold of Harold at spitfire is (479)-650-9989. the number is good I talked to him tonight.
