    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

Lesson Learned, wont be back. Looks like it's time to start saving money for all my bushings, idler, center link, and pitman. The money ispent on crappy labor woulda covered all this, but living in the past isn't gonna fix this POS. Probably gonna start a restore thread soon, even though...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

Update on the center link and Pitman. After cleaning the thing up and looking at my tapers, All of the tapers were fine.. except for the one where the pitman goes. It is egged out and wont be usable. Last night, it looked alright, but there wasnt much light and a considerable amount of crud and...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

Lol by "new" i mean new to me. Used and workable is more of what i'm talkin bout.Finding someone that makes a new centerlink...dont think its gonna happen. Removing this dang pitman is proving more difficult than i imagined. Upon removing the idler, i did notice close to a 1/4 inch of endplay...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

I've got this diagram down, something just got lost in me attempting to articulate my thoughts. So ill try to explain my question the long way, not trying to butt heads here. Ok, so i know for a fact, based on these diagrams, that the center link bar on the car is a 73-76 link. The pitman...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

No definitely not uniformly straight!!!! haha looks like i need to use my words different. It has a uniform tapered angle, but i will be posting pics (hopefully with a better camera) to make sure i have come upon the right conclusion

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

When i said no extreme amounts of wear, i am referring to this "mooshed/hogged out" taper you speak of. The taper seems to be uniform, along with the tapered ends on the pitman and idler. I was going off the whole idea that all three (idler, pitman and centerlink had to be the same era) Is this...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

After rereading, im actually not sure about this idler arm..did everyone agree that it has been flipped?i am positive that the center link is 1973-76 because it is a flat bar where as the older has a 90 degree turn in it. the pitman is 72 or older. upon removing the center link, the pitman still...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

Pretty sure i just found a good source of my heartaches... The Center link and the idler arm are for a 73-76......buuuuuut the damn pitman is from a 72 or earlier. My guess is that when they put in this motor (for some stupid reason) they decided to put the later center link and idler in. My...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

Haha sorry if it seems like i'm not heeding all this info, i just want to be pretty sure of what and how i'm diagnosing these things, before i begin. I do finally get the difference in the two setups, but now the only thing that still isn't clear is how to tell the difference in small vs big...

    1972 Plymouth Duster Alignment failure

Yea the whole let's get someone else to work on my project was basically fueled by a lack of patience. Now i get to do it over again! As far as the pitman, idler and center link matching up , would it be worthwhile to put some coin away and by all three new, while making sure the pitman will...

I have a bunch of general tools and access to an engine lift, would this be an insane job to do myself?( replacing the k that is?) Looks like ill meet up with the dude with the k at 10 tomorrow. I remember looking at an article in mopar magazine a while back about doing this job
